nvidia losing to ati in recent graphics chip market share

nvidia used to dominate in graphics chip market share, by a large gap, but now nvidia's market shares going down , while ati's going up and even beating nvidia's,
so what does that tell you?
I guess everybody now knows that ati's has a much better videocard and buying nvidia's fx is a bad investment ,
because of their slow performance , worse image quality, it's slow aa/af performance , slow shader perfomance, also slower in most recent games with aa/af than ati
and that nvidia's performance will be crippled in future directx9 games.

I only said recent graphics chip market share , that means it's for intel, ati and nvidia's video cards only.

Tabb - actually 45fps is for a 9600 pro, so yours would do atleast 50fps , while nvidia's 5900 fx ultra does only 32fps in directx9 path and 9800 pro does 78fps ,
your 9600xt would be almost twice as fast as 5900fx ultra in that game and probably most future directx 9 games

btw, i have a radeon 7500, 8500, 9600pro, and 9700pro (the 7500 and 8500 are retired).. and ati graphics & chipset in my laptop. so how exactly am i an "nvidiot" as you say?

perhaps i'm a fanATIc? oh, but wait! i have a geforce 3 (retired this week), ti4600, and fx5900... and a system with an nforce chipset.

maybe, just maybe, like many others posting on these boards, i just purchase whatever is the best value at the time for the system i want to build or the budget i am working with, rather than feeling i have to measure my self-worth by the brandname of the hardware i own, and pimping it so i can sleep at night thinking i'm uber cool cause i own this or that.

sorry.. to spend your time pimping for a company (unless you work for them and get paid to do it) really doesn't say much about how fulfilling life must be for you.

cindy22, or whoever you are, you really do just start threads to start flames and throw out information that really doesn't benefit the AT community at all. Don't get me wrong, I love my ATI, but come on, this has been said time and time again it is really old news now.

Ok, just real quick amongst all the flames a few things worth noting:

- Firstly, this is total market share for video chips, meaining everything from gameboy advances and cell phones to the Nvidia graphics chip being used on the two mars rovers NASA is hyped about right now. ATi's market share could be boosted significantly by producing hardware in markets Nvidia doesn't even compete in (cell phone display chips for example).

- Nvidia has a significantly diversified product line. Let's not forget about XGPU and of course the Nforce chipsets. And they plan on expanding. ATi may have (a sliver) more graphics market share than Nvidia, but that does not in any way mean Nvidia is struggling or having money troubles. In fact, they're probably doing better than ever.

and since you are flying all over the place and not really responding to anything posed in a coheretn way, i must asy that frankly, i really haven't seen many a post stating nvidia is faster or better since.. oh.. since the 9700pro came out.

ati took the dx9 codepath. nvidia made up their own. smart ati. baaaad nvidia. winner:ati

does that make anyone owning an nvidia card stupid? nope. does knowing i have an ati card where someone might have an nvidia give me reason to gloat or think my existance is somehow enhanced or blessed because of it? nope. if they're happy with it, hey, then who cares?

wanna blow $450 on a video card? while IMO that is completely a waste of money, buy the 9800xt; it's the better card. tho for $300 less i can get an nvidia card with 90-95% of the performace. hope you enjoy that 1-10 fps that cost you $300 bucks.

the exception to that, of course, is performance which was reported on an unfinished beta while not using the latest drivers on a game we might be lucky to see in 2004 (also being ingored it the fact the 5.x series of drivers have shown substantial improvement in dx9 performance, which, while it still doesn't match ati's, show's the nvidia's will run dx9 just fine). at any rate it's a good bet the next gen cards will be out first, kicking the asses of all the nv3x and r3xx we are so proudly trumpeting right now.

i think that's kind of harsh, i mean.. the name calling, the stupidity & ignorance shown, the obviously desperate cry for attention, the need to feel better about herself by measuring her self worth against which video card is the "best", the desire for acknowlegement by her peers shown in the attitude of her posts, etc.

it's all easily outweiged by sheer entertainment value. don't take it so seriously, just enjoy.. and who know, might even help her adjust to the real world and make him/her a better person with a richer, more fulfilling life. maybe even one day grow up to be a real, contributing member of our society

If you bother to look in other oolder threads you will see that all my older posts shows facts about how much better ati is compared to nvidia lately, that then pissed every nvidia fanatic off so badly that they than try to insult me by calling names , etc.

but that doesn't bother me I just wanted to post links of articles with proof, but then nvidia owners can't take the truth and starts calling names,etc. , so if I get banned, then shouldn't everyone else that started calling names get banned first? that would be almost every one that owns nvidia and is a nvidia fanatic.

Yes you can petition for a ban, people often do in forum issues. Frankly I would like to see the mods put an end to these nvidia vs ati flame bait threads, just like what has been done with amd vs intel threads. They serve absolutely no purpose.

Fair enough. Everyone has different views about things for sure. But when someone develops a psycosis over it, I begin to worry.
I have had my fair share of Cindy. There are enough occaisonal flame baiters in here to last a lifetime, but it sure would make me feel better to get rid of a full time flame baiter such as this.

I have told this to Cindy a million times already, and to countless others. I have tried many ATI and NV solutions. I chose nvidia for several reasons. Those reasons are my own reasons. Nothing wrong with that. But when someone comes out and flat out calls you an idiot for doing so, well, I just cant deal with stupidity that well.

Anyways, I have notified the mods about this and will wait for their reply. Whatever it is.

Just to clear the air...

The fact that both Intel and nVidia lost market share to ATI is what I find most surprising. Also nVidias Xbox contract boosts their bottom line just as much and probably a lot more than any periphery markets that ATI may be involved in.
