Agree with zsdersw, government should stay out the way, it's none of their business imho. Some companies become a monopoly for a very good reason, because they offer superior products at a better price point than their competitors. Artificial barriers of trade which stop companies from entering a market usually create 'bad' monopolies.
 
I thought that Nvidia worked alongside Intel, just as ATI works with AMD?

No.

First off, ATI technically doesn't exist anymore (at least not as it once did). AMD bought ATI at great expense.

Intel and Nvidia have been feuding over Nvidia's right to produce chipsets for LGA1366/LGA1156 processors. They don't get along very well, and with Intel's attempt to get into the high-end graphics market (Larrabee), their relationship has become even more strained.
