Nice to know that hell has finally frozen over.
Judging by what NVidia is doing, it seems like it will take time before their open-source drivers are on the same level as mesa and RADV are for Radeons. Too bad anyone on Maxwell or Pascal on Linux isn't going to see such benefits yet (due to Nouveau not being able to have proper power management and GPU clocking capabilities because of NV's proprietary firmware nonsense), but hopefully this can change in the future.
Can't say I'm surprised that all of this is coming about because NV wants to maintain their presence in the data center, and not because of open-source enthusiasts.
