yeah. Rev asked some very direct questions

"has your stance on FSAA and T&L changed now that you're with nvidia?"

"Is the "T&L games list" as given at
[l]http://www.nvidia.com/Products/Pages.nsf/pages/GeForce_256_tltitles[/l] "accurate"? "

heh...I like his reply, too

"no, that's an old list. Here's the new one [l]http://www.nvidia.com/products/geforce2ultra.nsf/xform.html[/l]"

anybody bother to check it out? It's a list of "Transform and Lighting-Enabled Games"

what's the first game on the list?

3dMark2001!!!!! How appropriate!

Here's another comment: "By having the forethought to add a programmable aspect to the T&L support found in DirectX 8, Microsoft has made T&L an even more powerful and more flexible tool for programmers. "

anyone know if any of the GeForce line supports that programmability?

I missed the easter egg. Saw the one with GT, but not the one with BB.

Not, it is a fixed pipeline. I found it rather funny myself that he talked about programibility.

I doubt that he was talking about the current GeForce line...the recent ZDNET specs for the NV20 said that NV20 was a programmable chip. That is most likely what he is talking about.

I know he was talking about NV20 guys. My point is that nvidia p!mped their "bada$$ T&L engine" on the GeForces, but that T&L engine will NOT be part of DX8 and they are totally revamping their next-gen T&L.

"The GeForce's superior T&L engine will be neither supported by DX8 NOR nvidia themselves!"

<g>

Am I the only one that sees the irony in this?

No, you're not the only one. DX8 t&l will be a step toward tangible T&L, IE, noticably faster than what a decent cpu can do. Maybe :) Of course the hyped up hardware T&L of current and past geforces doesn't meet dx8's hardware specs.

3dfx quote from a year ago:

"The geforce gpu will be the Virge of T&L."

"When we do hardware T&L, it will be much more powerful than what a cpu can do"

As far as Burke, he's paid to talk up a product line. He talked up 3dfx and now he talks up nvidia. Like a car salesman who moves from a GM dealership to Ford, it's all relative, depending on who writes the check.

the real interesting part about all this is that it also supports the theory that 3dfx's Rampage T&L will be programmeable (basically, they're do all chips, like DSP's, only tailor made for T&L).

the other stuff is just PR.. ohh ahh, that means the Geforce T&L isn't as great as we thought it was.. no big deal, the people WITH Geforces will most likely upgrade quickly anyway, before it becomes a problem.

What!!! Pac-Man 3D has T&L? And Splash 3D - The Interactive Coloring Book for Kids as well? Oh, man, Lego Stuntman Racers has it too. That does it. I've got to go get me an Ultra.
