There is a big difference between the two companies though. AMD has been actually using their tessellation patents and including tessellators in their silicon for generations now, Nvidia's exists on paper only.

ATI cards have been capable of hardware tessellation (Truform) since like 2001. nVidia, not so much. In fact the Tessellation in DX11 is actually based on Truform.

In his defense.. there's a lot of buzz about ATI+nV for Physx. It's a cool setup and we're not unhappy about it. Be it a hack or nV supported, GPU Tesselation with nV products should be equally exciting right?

At present I have a 5870 and may grab a 250 just to check it out. I'd run a hybrid for a cool tesslation game too..

I don't see how the fact that Nvidia has a patent for tessellation is interesting. Lots of tech companies have lots of patents. Tessellation is required for DX11, right? So no doubt AMD and Nvidia will include tesselation in their DX11 GPU's if they want to be complient. AMD and Nvidia may have patents regarding rops, shaders, etc. yet you aren't starting threads about those patents. Everyone here knows very well what you were trying to do...

Just to add my $0.02, the op and a handful of other posters (like Rollo) were/are a big reason why I stopped coming to AT video forums awhile ago. I was posting that Rollo was probably on the nV payroll years before the truth came out, because it was painfully obvious since every thread they popped into magically morphed into an ATI/nV debate. It was like his life's goal was to post positive spin on Nvidia and negative spin on ATI, and it was incredibly tiring.

Nothing positive about Nvidia or ATI can be posted here anymore without someing coming in and starting a flame-fest. The same can be said for debate - if someone were to create a thread questioning the value of DX 10/10.1/11 or CUDA, it would instantly become a call to arms of alliances.

I'm glad to see that others are starting to get frustrated with these same old games over and over again. Frankly, Nvidia's viral marketing is despicable...

He posted a patent application and summarised it as being something ATI had actually implemented 2 years prior to the patent application, and implied it might in some way impact DX11.
His post made no sense, at best it was trying to spread FUD, and at worst it was just random pointless garbage not even worth of discussion.

He says "what is currently being done with DX11".
DX11 is already out, there are (tech) demos of tessellation which already work on non-NV DX11 hardware.
It has no relevance to DX11 or to anything.
If Wreckage makes a post with content that is meaningful and worthy of discussion, people might discuss it rather than discussing him and his postings.
