Not sure if they needed to do any mods to make it compatible, but apparently PCGH has fitted a Arctic Accelero IV to the Titan X and got it to be 1550MHz stable with BIOS mod raising TDP to 121% (302.5W?):

I guess this could be one alternative for those who aren't sure about putting their Titan X on water. 1550MHz would be what, 77% faster than a stock GTX 980?

If there is an aftermarket cooler made for this, or one of those all in one water cool doohickies I will certainly bite and void my warranty. But, I'm not going to mod anything to make it work.

Did a little overclocking, card gets a degree or two hotter (84-85) but still cannot honestly hear the fan ramp up any higher, if it is spinning up quicker it is doing a good job of it.

Stock Titan X Valley 1.0

1920x1080

1921x1080 - 1300MHz GPU Stock Memory

1920x1080 - 1378MHz GPU Stock Memory

The Valley benchmark registered a constant 1392 MHz for the GPU, but MSI afterburner registered correct 1150 to 1176 back and forth.

4K

4K - 1300MHz GPU Stock Memory

4K - 1378MHz GPU Stock Memory

Just hit 4325 in Valley with 1425Mhz on the core, that's approaching 780SLI numbers folks...

What's doing on the memory? Keeping it at stock? I don't think my CPU will allow me to catch you. I'll get close but wont' be able to match.
I'm waiting on Broadwell to finally upgrade my platform.

Wait for Skylake. Broadwell will be on the relatively old Z97 platform, and I doubt it'll be a big improvement over 4790K.

Anyway, my Titan X should be here today, but I won't get a chance to play with it until early next week 🙁

I thought about that, but I thought Skylake is higher end AKA uber expensive. Like 2011 platform is now? Or was when it first landed?

How's the stock cooler for you guys?

I mean, it's a mixed bag. With higher fan speeds you can keep this chip pretty cool even with a solid overclock, but I will agree with many others that if there ever was a chip that would benefit from good aftermarket cooling this is probably it.
