NVIDIA GTX Titan X Bios Modding

So has anyone ventured into that territory yet? I'm currently testing a vbios a friend from Tech|Inferno made for me. He's working on tweaking it a bit before he releases it to the public. The version I have on my Titan X's does the following:

1. No boost
2. Incremental voltage changes: 1.05-1.118-1.130-1.143-1.155-1.168-1.180-1.193-1.205-1.218-1.230-1.243-1.255-1.268/1.273 (voltages may vary a bit depending on your card)
3. Based on stock EVGA GTX Titan X with a base clock of 1076 MHz/3505 MHz
4. Power limit up to 135%

The final T|I svl7 vbios should be ready in a few days hopefully and it'll be released. I can post a link to a download if people are interested once it goes live. So far with the beta bios, I'm hitting 1450 stable on both my cards (77% and 70% ASIC) at 1.243v. The 77% ASIC reaches 1500 MHz at those voltages but the 70% one holds it back a bit. I did notice that gameplay is a BIT smoother with boost disabled as the clocks aren't jumping around everywhere.

I've tried a BIOS from OCN that gives them 1.31v and a 450W power limit. One of my cards is a dog and can only do 1450 even with that much voltage, the other does 1580.

Running that BIOS vs the stock BIOS is not making a big difference. Both cards only gain about 75mhz from using it, but temperatures go from about 37-39C loaded to 45-48C under load. Doesn't seem worth it to me. With my 780ti cards using a custom BIOS I got massive gains; over 150mhz on each card. I may have to RMA one of these cards as well, as I am getting pink block artifacts in some games with everything at stock.

My cards came straight from nvidia. I hope they have a good RMA process and it's not an Asus adventure getting an RMA processed.

The problem with the OCN vbios's are the clock and voltage tables are pretty unreliable as they're made using MBT. That's why I asked svl7 to make me one by hand and disable boost while he was at it. The overall OC isn't much higher than what I can get with the stock vbios but the difference is that the card is more stable at those clocks. With my second GPU, I'm noticing less voltage fluctuations and obviously with boost disabled, the clock is what I set it at rather than based on what boost decides to set it at. Also, the ability to have more voltage selections is a big bonus.

As for the RMA process with NVIDIA, it's actually really good. I just bought an extended SLI bridge from them that had a malfunctioning LED so I contacted their tech support. They created a ticket, asked me to uninstall/reinstall GeForce Experience and after that didn't solve it, they said they would send me another AND I get to keep the original for free.

A good custom bios is worth its weight in gold. 780 Ti Classy here with custom bios for stock cooler. Solved driver crashing while giving nice perf boost. Love it!

Hi, new here, I was wondering if someone could maybe upload a stock EVGA Titan X (non-SC) bios to the Techpowerup database or for direct download? Would be greatly appreciated, as I pretty much forgot to extract the bios with GPU-Z before flashing mine. Also, I would really love to be able to somehow disable boost, but messing around with MBT and changing the different values according to how it was done with the GTX 980 doesn't seem to work at fixing the base clock.

5150Joker, I used a modded BIOS for my 780 Classified and it really was smoother. Just have to be careful to monitor temps.

You should post the link...I went to TI website and couldnt find it... I would love to try this on my Titan X

Mine is stock with stock cooling.
Looping Valley makes the back of the card feel like a heat gun. It burns, I'm not kidding.

I've played around with Titan BIOSes with cards that were liquid cooled. Nice seeing them pull over 400W and the GPU temps stay in the lower 30s all day long. Trying that on air would be OK as long as you were stranded and you needed a lot of white smoke for distress signal.

Or remember that scene from T2 at the playground when LA has a thousand sunrises?

Yeah you're gonna want a full cover block and the strength of the VRMs isn't well known yet. They are like a winch cable. Give little warning before they snap. At least no one loses an arm when it happens. (Unless you're buying the replacements!)
