Nvidia GTX 780 - Which one?

Yeah I thought the same while doing the research. I concluded that I wouldn't need SLI for the foreseeable future with such a beast of a card.

If I only I could convince myself of that too and I been trying. I know I can run them in SLI just have to remove the GPU reactor cover on one card but they would be to close to each either imo for me in SLI regarding temps so no go for me in SLI.

I decided for the price today to go with a 780 IF I could get it the MP discount. Every time I checked today the games were listed so Masterpass wouldn't work of course. So I contacted NE again today and asked the CS if without the games if I could get the MP $50.00 off discount. At first he said no can't do that but ask me for account number and came back and said since I was a long time customer he will do it, so I said great/thanks. Btw to my surprise I also got the games even though I asked for the discount without them, so will e-bay them for a little more discount. I ended up going with the EGVA GTX 780 ACX SuperClocked (967/1020) so its decent bang for the buck at this price $449.00 ar and I also have the games to sell now for a little more discount so not bad. Looking at HardwareCancucks review he was able to overclock the EVGA 780 SC to 1188/6888 so I will see how mine does when it gets here.

It's a nice card. My 780 GHz came out of the box at 1167MHz, which put it right below the stock 780 Ti... Not too bad :|

If you want more it's pretty easy to go up from there, with 1.2v via the Skynet bios I was pushing 1300Mhz with mine, and then there is the MSI AB mod which can unlock 1.3 or 1.35v with LLC disabled adding even more...

Basically reviewers are benching 1.16v and the OV (if they even do one) is puny but can be mitigated if you so choose.

1300 is very nice imo, if I could go 1225-1250 on 1.2v with this card that would good for me I am not a max overclocker like some of you guys' so 1225-1250 for me would be good/ nice if I could it on or very close to 1.2v.

I don't know these 780 that well yet coming from AMD, but what are the benefits of the B1 other than I believe is over Ghz out of the box?

The chips clock higher with lower voltage inherently. That's the main reason why Balla purchased the Gigabyte GHz edition. The HOF also is guaranteed to have a B1 stepping.

The B1 stepping is the GK110 refresh chip that allows them to have the crazy Tesla chip that is fully enabled @ 235w @ higher clock speeds.

It is also the main reason why the 780 Ti can be much more power efficient than the 780 launch edition despite the over-volted 7000MT/s GDDR5 and running at a higher temperature on the same cooler.

This lists the cards that have been spotted with them, but note that this list does not guarantee that the cards will have them for every one purchased.

Did you ever manage to get that shroud/cooler off to be able to read the stepping on the GPU?

It was 80.80 so it was B1.

Card had really bad high/low coil whine and a clicking noise at low RPM from the fans.

I was on the fence about RMA'ing it the entire day, in the end I decided to ship it back.

Last time I RMA'ed a card it was a 7950 that did 1290MHz on the core and the card I got back struggled to hit 1250 :| Third one didn't like going past 1215... My luck seems to revolve around first sample best sample...

One of my R9 290s isn't even stable at stock voltage @ 1000 mhz core 1500 mhz ram. Had to bump it up to .00625v core and .00625v aux Q.Q

Running all three of my 290s @ 80% fan ATM for stability purposes. They fluctuate between 78C to 84C and heat up my room to 80F with the AC on max o.o

Soooooooooo tempted to go quad cards and watercooling, but it's such a bad idea moneywise.
