Well I agree, you're right.

Judging from 40->28nm shrink alone, and appropriate historical perf. gains, HD7850,7870,GTX 660/Ti should really be filling $150-250 range

Problem is ... $299 makes most sense for NV, and even then they'll have trouble keeping it in stock.

And at that price it will be well positioned within current offering.
Not necessarily disruptively poistioned, but still well enough that
AMD needs to cash-in 7950 OC potential (also TDP*noise) to stay to competitive/enough distanced.
