Hi... I love the naming on the new EVGA board... (I am not being sarcastic here)...
FTW is the first gimmicky name EVER that I actually liked.

It should be Txxx, then Exxx, but 12 is bad though, that'd be Txxx again. Anyways, they'll think of something

I actually thought NVIDIA was just going to call every card "8800GTS" from now on...

oh and because my cards are in SEX SLI I get all dem chicks!!!! 6-way!!!!!!!

Too bad you need that new Windows Mista OS to take advantage of SEX SLI, and I've heard horror stories where you have to beg and bribe the OS just to let you watch a movie on that super hi def purple-ray format with 360 degree hologram monitors.

what is this? 2010?

our brains are computers now, nubs!

I like it when they use a low number series, Like the Voodoo cards. They need to go back to 1,2,3,4,5... kind of thing

That goes against the stupid peoples' trains of thoughts (people who go to Best Buy for parts, generally) that "bigger number must be better!"

Though, going to a low number would aid Nvidia sell their plentiful stock of FX5200s, right? 😉

this is why i am so afraid to start researching another Nvidia card to buy. i've been out of the Nvidia loop since the 9800pro. seriously now, if i were to look at another Nvidia card, what is the newest core and the fastest? please, in all seriousness: then i'll post some silly Nvidia naming schemes, lol

G92 core. Either a 8800GT or an 8800GTS. The 8800GT is a few percent slower, but typically costs 100$ less... nothing else is worth buying.
On the AMD side its either a 3850 or a 3870. Nothing else worth buying.

There isnt much research to do when there are only 4 viable cards, with 2 from each company, based on two varients of the same core. (ie, a G92 with more stream processors enabled, etc)

I've been wondering this about the Intel lineup too. They hop, skipped, and jumped from 2xxx to 4xxx to 6xxx and the next thing I know, they've got the 9550. Then they go Penryn with the 8xxx and the 9770. Seems like they're coming to the end of the road fast. But then maybe they're just trying to make it to Nehalem and they will start a whole new system.

1. Make up a bunch of wierd product naming rules.
2. Violate those rules to further confuse consumers.
3. Describe products with adjectives like "HD" and "Lightning-Fast."
4. Profit.
5. Repeat at Step 1, 2, or 3 as needed.

Wish they would go back to a 5 gaming card range product line in the $50, $100, $250, $400 and $600 ranges. This revision of the 8800 series and then a very similar 98XX series will become pretty confusing. Hopefully the next gen will be the card that can handle the first wave of truely optimized DX10 titles.

If it turns out to be a 1 teraflop GPU at the 10XXX GT level and higher, they could use the DX10 monkier with the naming scheme for their 10th series name.

GEforce NDX10 GS
GEForce NDX10 GT
GEForce NDX10 GTS
GEFORCE NDX10 GTX
GEForce NDX10 Ultra

Nvidia better have a strong GPU ready for the next round because dual and quad ATI GPUs on a single card solution seems to be in their favor due to a superior multi-GPU scaling platform.

We will probably know more before the end of Febuary so people may want to hold off on the 8800 series if your still going strong on a older gen card.

Didn't someone make "quantom physics engine for video games using your video card *note: using approximated Newtonian physics*"

GeForce Stupid Name Edition?

I seriously hate how dumb & long & confusing names have gotten.

AMD does deserve credit for HD 3870 & 3850. Nice n simple, & easy to tell which is better.

Yeah, now that everyone knows what GeForce is, they must switch to GF prefix. Like GF10 or G10 and maybe one letter suffixes like E, X etc ... nVidia GF10X sounds more cool than nVidia GeForce 10800 HyperUltra Special Edition too .. at least to me. Another logical move would be to change the whole GeForce thing and come up with a new brand of cards like nVidia Stigma or smth ...
