Nvidia GeForce 2 DXTC bug exposed.

In the last few months I have run many test and benchmarks on PC video cards. Although Voodoo 5 is now, unfortunately, passing into history, my attention was grabbed by two cards in particular: the GeForce 2 and ATI's Radeon, writes Fuad Abazovic.

While many hardware sites and magazines have looked at these cards in some detail, Anandtech and a few other sites reported a problem with images of the sky in Quake III which posed some questions about DXTC (Direct X Texture Compression) on GeForce 2 cards.

Bug? LOL! The sky is suppose to be orange. I take it that you've never seen the demo. Heck, even the artwork that loads up before and after the demo shows the sky as orange.

I was under the impression that the Radeon had a driver bug which caused it to render the sky incorrectly. The GF renders the sky correctly.

Let me give you all a piece of advice: treat anything from the Register with a high degree of caution. I'd be hard-pressed to believe a lot of things that they say.
