Hey, I just rely on what I hear from ATi users on the 'net regarding CCC. Even at B3D it's not terribly popular - there is a rather large thread about why people hate it in the drivers forum, isn't there fallguy? :D

Awesome driver. Tomb Raider: Legend went from marginally playable to smooth and beautiful in next gen mode for me. I don't see what all the fuss is about the new CP either. Seems OK to me.

Yeah, and if you actually bothered to read it, most people are not having anything close to "sluggish" performance. Nor is it about all people hating CCC. Try actually reading the thread.

In fact, here is a post where someone on several machines does a test with CCC, and NV's CP, http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/showpost.php?p=739203&postcount=45

As you can see, its about the same. The only time CCC takes longer than a few seconds to load for me, is the first time. NV's CP was not instantanious either, even though some people try to spread it around that it is.

I love how you point me to a post from Martrox, of all people. His anti-nVIDIA bias can be easily demonstrated through his post history to be even larger than your own! Having said that, he has moderated recently, and his post doesn't say what you are wanting it to say.

while there was a difference in the first access, 5 seconds shouldn't bother anyone.

Did you miss that little bit fallguy? Shall I start quoting from the large thread I linked to? (it's far from the only thread/post about ccc either. Such posts adorn the 'net like litter after a street festival...)

I do not know who matrox is. You pointing out that someone is bias, is pretty funny. Its not like you're bias, right?

No I didnt miss it. If you even cared to read the post, only the first time in his tests, were more than a few seconds. Which is what I get as well. The first load of CCC after a bootup, takes several seconds. Then each one after that, is just a few. Not that I load it much, since you can make changes by right clicking the icon.

Feel free to quote any post you want. Ill quote others who had it load in just a few seconds. Since all you can do is "rely on what I hear from ATi users on the 'net regarding CCC." I guess you'll have to rely on what I say too.

So, any performance improvements then....? I mean, fluffy though a control panel is, once it's all setup, it's the driver performance that matters. Isn't it? I could be wrong of course... :)

Oh, and if I could be so bold, yes CCC took ages to boot up first time, that was lame, BUT as far as setting up dual monitors how you want it, ATIs attempts were remarkably easier. This nvidia control panel really, REALLY p!sses me off. No sorry, it really fvcks me off in fact.

I'm not going to upgrade the drivers just yet, as setting up dual view how i want it is complete pot luck. And trying to actually use application profiles? Pah, useless.

And my second monitor flickers wheneve I right click on the (now removed) taskbar icon. And as for the tearing on FEAR, well...

I'm using 84.43v2 by Xtreme-G I believe. Have tried the official ones too. And yes, the monitor is plugged in properly. But anyway, ignore this rant, hows the performance on the new drivers?

Even tho installing these drivers disabled my SLI setup I did notice an overall improvement in FEAR and Oblivion, they ran smoother even tho I was using only one card. GTA:San Andreas was also noticably faster when I kicked up all the AA and AF on the card. I went back to 82.24 so I could utilize my SLI again but yeah, there is some noticable improvment. I didnt care for the new control panel so I switched it to classic.

Cool thanks. What kind of performance improvement in FEAR? Do you experience any tearing? (I'm looking at my monitor as being one source of this though...)

Drivers made my entire screen black after the windows boot-up screen. Using 6800 Ultra 256mb.

Had to go back

i use rivatuner, there's a "my own custom clock frequencies" available in the NV control panel.

agreed, Riva is one of the best OC programs I've ever used. highly recommended. Pretty much makes this new control panel useless.

I re-installed Coolbits with no problem and have the usual options available for overclocking (none, auto, manual). I did revert to the old control panel but don't see why this should make a difference.

No issues so far with these drivers. Also nice to have control over OpenGL threading which previously had to be tweaked in the registry.

That happened when I set refresh rate to 75 Hz. I did enable VGA mode, 75 Hz again, and everything was fine.

I will just mention that the 7600GT hence the G73 core is a 4 quad design confirmed by the latest Rivatuner.

We can expect the 7600GTX soon :)

Hey I'm in the same boat. I have a rather convoluted dual view setup (2nd monitor is actually a TV via VGA), and every time I install a new driver I have to go through the whole thing again. and it's plug and pray because I'm not quite sure how I even got it to work the previous time. the profile thingy doesn't work. it seems to restore everything but the most important thing: the dual view setup and display mode for the TV. so I have to resort to using system restore if all else fails.

If you've got XP you can just hide the icon from a right click menu or some such. 2k here so I don't know the specifics.

I don't want it loaded in memory at all. In the old control panel, it can be disabled with a simple checkbox. I can't find a similar option in the new CP.
