It's just another interface to the same old control panel. (You even get the chioce to switch back)

It's works fine for me with the one exception. I can't get clone mode or dual view to work properly. The picture gets all messed up.

mp4 works just fine, AVI however gets severely distorted. Don't have any mpg's to try with so i don't know about those.

Have you tried the 81.xx series drivers? Cured the problem for me and many others. Never tried any newer ones than that with NF3 as I have now switched MB's.

After playing with the new menu system. I think its a necessary move as Nvidia does more with their platforms.

This new menu system will actually be a very concise place for all things Nvidia in the future, and it works well even in this early build.
What it does seem to need is more descriptions for the different graphic options in advanced like the old panel does.

I do prefer the legacy menu but I'm going to get used to this one as all the new features being added in the future will utilize it.
I think the old menu system was getting a little cramped, especially if they are going to continue adding new options.

As long as it still allows me to jump right in.. which it does by going to 3d Settings-> Manage.. I'm a happy camper.

When I was adding 8xSupersampling AA and 16x AF to the Warcraft 3 TFT profile I noticed two new options in the 3d settings I never noticed before: Ignore OpenGL error reporting and OpenGL threading. I'm not sure if they are new or not, but I hadnt noticed them before.

I like it, this will probably be very useful with the upcoming NF5 to integrate the Tritium platform, the audio and video all in one hopefully if you have more than just a NV GPU.

It needs a little work, but the legacy option is still there, both are VERY fast (instantaneous). No lag, thats the way I like to see my drivers. ;)

Does need more explanations on 3D settings though and needs a "restore defaults" option within the 3D settings for global and individual games.
Necessary move, and great 1st run at it for a beta. Cant wait to get the final.

Yeah I have tried every release over the past 24 months. It is a very annoying issue but one I dont care about that much since this machine will only be my game machine until the Fall when I build a new one.

But it is annoying that this bug continues for me :(

Did you do a format at any point? Or have you used driver cleaner in safe mode and tried newer drivers?

If you have done these things, if you wouldnt mind sending me your rig details please, that'd be great (dont forget any overclocking applied, OS ect)..

The one thing that worked for me prior to using the 81.xx drivers was underclocking my card slightly (340/1000 from 350/1000 stock). I never had a single stutter with my card underclocked. Once I started using the 81.xx drivers, I was back to normal and was even able to OC my card without stutter. You might want to try underclocking slightly. With the performance gains you get with the new drivers (I got about 10% gain in 3DMark going form 81.85 to 84.20), underclocking your card and updating your drivers will be a nice improvement.

I still like the old control panel better. At least you get an option with these.

One more thing, why is it ~50mb (what was it, 48 megs?).

I don't think I'll install them yet, and wait for a little feedback, or wait for them to be Xtream-Gafide (Gafied??? How would you spell it? :p)

Genx87, if you have an nForce3 based motherboard, I'd suggest ditching it and grabbing an ABIT-KU8 (ULi based) or even grabbing a cheap skt 939 cpu and getting the ASROCK 939 dual-sata II (ULi based) board, advantage being you have an upgrade path for your video and your cpu for little cost. nForce3 is not a technology I'd reccomend.

You can go AM2 with the 939 Dual-SATA II, it has a CPU expansion slot. That's why I'd prefer that route over just another 754 board (provided genx87 can get a decent price for his old m/board + cpu). Personally I think it will take a fair amount of time for AM2 to really distinguish itself from 939 performance wise anyway (and I mean good performance increases, not a few percent here and there).

In terms of motherboard technology AM2 is just rerouting and retracing to take into account the new socket and DDR-2 DIMMS. 939 chipsets should work just fine for AM2.

I think parts of the new control panel are better organized and easier to view, but overall it's more complicated. I don't like it.

It also has a few bugs like, my display is in clone mode for some reason. I'm only using one display, therefore I can't optimize my display. And I can't get rid of the tray icon. As soon as I uncheck it, it comes back a few seconds after.

I'm gonna uninstall it.

Props to nVidia for this.

I hope we'll see a new official driver soon though.

no, it doesn't. .NET should be irrelevant to how it would perform any how. Plenty of brilliant applications have been coded around .NET, nHAncer, paint.net, Drive Image 7 to name but a few. ATi's sluggish CCC has nothing to do with .NET and everything to do with incompetent coding.

well a couple of noticable bugs for me, like reverting to the classic panel and to the new interface causes the desktop context menu to turn on regardless if i uncheck it. or sometimes ill get random errors in the new interface. but other than that, its pretty solid.

i also gained the ability to go SLI!! lol...it just shows up in the menu now.

True, but I still prefer not to install .NET if I don't have to.
