I've noticed that in the last three days or so, whenever I attempt to play any QuickTime video from within a browser (either IE 7 or FF 2.0.0.6), the browser instantly crashes. After practically pulling my hair out trying to determine what was wrong, I ultimately realized the only change I'd made recently was the installation of nvidia's newest ForceWare 162.18 driver software for my GeForce FX 5500.
I hopped on over to Google to do a quick search, and sure enough, it seems there have been a few reported cases of this very problem. Evidently nvidia's newest driver and Apple's latest version of QuickTime (v.7.2) don't play well with one another. What's interesting, again, is that the crashes only occur when viewing the QuickTime files from within a browser. Evidently, once you roll back your ForceWare software to 94.24 or earlier, the problem disappears completely.
Would someone with QuickTime 7.2 and nvidia ForceWare 162.18 try to verify the problem on their system and report back? I'd sure appreciate it!
