Am the only one in this thread that thinks the "features" make a world of difference? It definitely makes the game more atmospheric and gives off incredible depth. A BIG  in my book.

When I saw that comparison picture in the installer and then got into the game, I almost thought that maybe they had the screenshots backwards or something..

Nice!

What video card do you have and how well does it run with the "next-gen content" on?

For sure...their example was horrible.

Her skin does look more, eh, supple in the left one. Maybe she's casting a shadow forward.

My cousin was showing me some samples in the DirectX SDK...there was a particularly impressive one on HDR. Two windows, each with a bright light source (like the sun). You have sliders to modify the intensity of each light source. Start with looking out the window: everything looks alright. Then, turn your back and look inside the room. It's all dark. Walk into the dark room and after a few seconds, its no longer pitch black and you can see the walls/pillars. Now turn around and look at the window - WHOA! Who turned on the lights? It gets super-blindingly-bright. Then, you get adjusted to it. Now turn around and face the wall: its pitch black again!

Looking at the screens, it seems like HDR. However, as someone in this thread stated and I was thinking the same thing, that is one shiny stone statue. Features are nice. It can make a game better but enabling shiny new features just to enable it is stupid. If you want a mirror reflecting a light source to have HDR then great. But on a stone statue? As a series, Tomb Raider sucks anyways.

Also if you will notice I stated that I must be wrong as I have read tons of posts and reviews of people swearing by the benefit of HDR. I just claimed that if you look at the screenshots, its a very hard benefit to see whereas many graphics card benefits are very easy to see, even in screenshots.

Your sort of right. HDR is a feature that is different than the improvments of AF and AA. It is one that has a more realtime improvment rather both a realtime and a snapshot imporvment like AF and AA. During actual gameplay will you see that the benefit of HDR is one that is hard to go back and play without. While looking at pictures of games is nice and all, it never gives you a good idea of what the game is like. I will agree with you about the screenshots not always looking so great, but even if you look at edges at different angles, the AA can look different/worse too. I think you should get a card that will let you see the benefit, if you still think it is worthless then tell us why.

TWIMTBP appears to be plastered in many more games than GITG is.

Furthermore ATi appears to run games better with their competitor's logo more often than nVidia does.

Of course, ATi only started to get interested when they realized how much of an impact it had, they still don't have anywhere near the resources devoted to dev rel that nV does, it will take them years before they manage to get where nV is now.

Furthermore ATi appears to run games better with their competitor's logo more often than nVidia does.

See your quote above, that should be a given.

Hmm I dont understand Ben. If you knew it WAS faster and not IS faster then why post that statement as it may of been true in the past but is apparently not true now.

Are there any other GITG games that Nvidia stomps Ati in? If not it would appear you statement was incorrect.

Can you point me to some Benchmarks Ben? Just wanting to compare how they stack up honestly but have googled through ten pages and I cant find any benchmarks of DS II final.

So the next gen features that nVidia are touting are bump mapping and things that cards could have done long ago.... with the exception of HDR and thats it... wonderful. I love PR!

Wasn't this thread supposed to be about Nvidia features and/or any graphic features that are or will be available? Lets not start sidetracking into performance and marketing wars between companies or products, that has gotten kind of old if you've kept up to date with this whole video forum. Yes, screenshots are only glimpses of the kind of quality games are, and, yes, they can be very inaccurate as well as accurate depending on the game.

When I was installing Oblivion for the first time and the screen shots cycle to keep you patient while waiting, I thought it looked like crap (mainly because the most of the screen shots that I could tell were Nvidia cards running HDR and no AA)--I've seen the difference between the two myself and know that HDR,no AA on Nvidia looks worse than HDR,no AA on ATI. But when I started playing the game, I really did enjoy the awesome graphics and realtime benefit of HDR in action.

When I had bloom and 4x AA on my Nvidia setup, I didn't notice anything really. I couldn't really tell if there was a bloom to anything. Since the chuck patch, I haven't tried to use it again for obvious reasons (HDR+AA).

Still HDR, Motion Blur, and crazy physics that might make us buy another freakin core are all improvements no matter what anyone says.
