Newsflash guys: Your computer's performance doesn't automatically change because there's a faster card out there. If your card plays your games fine now, it'll still play those same games fine even when there's a better card out there lol.
It cracks me up that some people think just because there's a faster card out there it somehow impacts their computer's performance.
So it's a 1-year cycle? New/high-end in fall, and mid/low-range or whatever's needed for competetion in.. the rest of the year? Could you give us a link to G92?Originally posted by: Cookie Monster
You guys are forgetting that the refresh of G80 is G92. Sort of like NV40 to G70 kind of refresh is going to happen. A new high end will launch around Q4 this year while the midrange G9x hit spring in 08. This is nVIDIA's new approach i believe.
Well certainly I wouldn't expect any of the chip makers (AMD/Intel/NV) will launch brand-new design every year. They will have to recoup the R&D and then some. (well, more like milking as long/much as possible) But die shrink / speed bump / efficiency tweaks at high-end used to occur every 6 months in the past. (although in many cases as a form of paper launch)Originally posted by: munky
What this means the refresh will be a die shrink and speed bump, and not a whole new generation g90 architecture that was recently rumored to be coming this fall.
Anyways, that's what I expected, and it follows the pattern of previous Nvidia product releases.
In light of what has happened if we had purchased the 8800 GTX back in November 06 it would've been extremely future proof. Now I feel like I made a bad purchase..

I think he (Cheex) was worried about his purchase. His money was well spent if he puts that card to good use. As always, a better deal will show up... eventually... so enjoy the best that your money can buy RIGHT NOW!![]()

If NVIDIA's right, enthusiasts will lose their only alternative to NVIDIA and almost everyone here is going to end up having no choice but to purchase an NVIDIA product.
