 First off, techspecs: I have a 1.4 Athalon, 256 SDRAM, 60 Gig HD, Plug-N-Play Proview 17in. Monitor (Res is set at max for various reasons), and an Aztech vid card. Also have CDROM player/burner and a DVD player. This and more came with the package from "Systemax" (I know, bad choice, but too late now). What I can't seem to figure out is where I'm supposed to get my download from. I've hooked everything up for the T.V. out connection with the included RCA adapter setup, but my system tech tells me that my vid card doesn't have the support for the T.V. out option. I get sound but no video. According to the help article, I'm supposed to download W9x-631.exe from NVIDIA at NVIDIA.com/products.nsf/htmlmedia/detonator3.html. I went there, but there was no such download available as far as I could see. Does anybody have the slightest clue where I can find this file and download it?

A little bit more information on your card would be useful. You can still find the 6.31 detonator driver on other sites than nvidia's but you may not need to use that and use possibly the latest versions available.

You'll be able to find the 6.31 driver along with most of the others made from the Guru3D site.

 Being new to the game, so to speak, exactly what further info would you need on my vid card, and how would I go about finding it out. Also, I tried a couple of downloads from Guru but when I tried to run them, got a message saying they were invalid Win32 programs. What does this mean?!

The graphics chipset would be useful. The driver will list it as something like a RIVA TNT/2 or Geforce (thats assuming you have an nvidia powered card).

Also, some of the file downloads from Guru3D come in a zip file format. The only way to use these are to get hold of Winzip or have 'compressed folders' (available in Win98 plus! pack or as part of Windows XP) installed.
If you have downloaded an .exe file and it doesn't work, it may not have downloaded correctly.

 Well, I guess I should have mentioned that my Op system is WinME in the first place... I do have compressed folders available and being used for the downloads. Now for the truly stupid question ( one of many to come..). How do I get my driver to tell me what I'm running? Also, how do I run the compressed folders from their respective location?

Two ways to find out what hardware you have.
1) Start->Control Panel->System and select the Device manager tab, then look under the display adapters. It may not say nvidia and may not mention which chipset, but should say the model number which can be helpful.

2) Right clicking on the desktop background and selecting properties (or Start->Control Panel->Display properties), then selecting the settings tab and clicking then 'advanced' options button should bring up a new window.
At the top will be a set of tabs (Example from Windows XP). One of them will show a window very similar to that shown in the example (every graphics card I have come across that uses an nvidia graphics chip has always kept to this type of layout) which should hopefully give you the info you want.

Now, for compressed folders, if it is installed just double-clicking on the zip file should allow you to view its contents and copy its files out of the zip file itself (you will need to copy them out to actually be able to use them)

 For what it's worth, I did manage to dig up something in the techhelp setup that tells me to run a Vision Tek disk for my NVIDIA VANTA driver issues...
Couldn't begin to tell you what that means considering I don't have any disk labeled Vision Tek (assuming of course that I'm supposed to).

:eek:Sorry the useless info got there first. We were typing at the same time. I looked at the device manager and it says that I'm running the All-in-Wonder 128 Pro AGP. Go figure. I looked a little further and all of my vid applications are running on ATI tech stuff. Does this mean I need to change drivers altogether, or can this setup somehow work for my T.V. out settings?

Aha! Nailed it. Rage 128 Pro Ultra (5446). Has AGP 1 - 4X (?) Something like that anyway. It also says something about needing Rage Theatre as a Decoder.? Now what?

:)I'm baaaaaack. Better late than never I suppose...
Whoa buddy. Just saved my girlfriend with the Heimlich again (absolutely not kidding).
It's a long story starting with a tonsilectomy at the ripe age of twenty three.

Anyway, I am in the process of downloading wme_r128_4_13_7192.exe. Any hints on what I should do with it when I'm done?
Assuming (I love that word) that you're still online, I should be loaded in about fifteen more minutes. I am still more or less completely in the dark as to what I'm getting myself into, but if it makes you feel any better, I'm a quick learner and an excellent typist. All these talents wasted on such trivial matters....

The idea is that once you've downloaded the latest drivers, if your card really does support TV-out, the latest drivers will allow you to actually be able to use it.
You must ensure a TV is plugged into the TV-out connection of the card and driver to detect it properly and allow you to use it.

If it doesn't allow you to enable it, it either isn't supported by your card, you have a different problem (which would then have me recommending you to go to the Rage3D forum), or it isn't supported in the resolution you currently have your monitor in (or a similar hang-up).
