Nvidia detonator / forceware 81.26 experiences

I installed the Nvidia detonator 81.26 beta

I have a dualcore system

AMD x2 4400+
Nvidia 7800GTX

and I must say i am simply amazed! BF2 run much smoother and a higher max fps.

The biggest difference is in in my lowest frame, which has raised 10-15 fps.

BF2 runs perfect
Dungeon Siege 2 is runs but the fog looked F*ed up.
Luna demo wouldnt run at all.
source runs fine.
fear sp demo runs but i can see through walls.

certainly not bug free yet but this is esentially free performance.

I'm curious to see what if any gains there are for Single Core.

With the afore mentioned bugs though, I think I'll wait for the final version 😉

i've only been playing age of empires 3, the serious sam demo and source, i know source crashed after 8 minutes

the other 2 ran fine

I am tempted to get the but for the bugginess. I mainly just play bf2 and HL2 though

I'll have to wait until they come out officially though, hopefully the first dual core drivers come soon

how big??? Very very cool if this happens being a Nvidia+x2 owner 🙂. I might actually be able to play some games at 1280/1024 with my downgraded 6600GT/.

Forceware 81.84 seems to work fine for me, except for an issue with the mouse pointer.... It takes on the shapes of the various different pointers (resize, hand, etc...) when it should just be an arrow. I haven't noticed any tremendous increase in performance, everything plays well though, and my 3DMark score got a wee bit better.

I upgraded to 81.82 a few days ago and am getting various texture problems in guild wars. Might try 81.84 or switch back to 78.xx.

Neither the XG or ForceWare 81.84 drivers had a problem with me on both my main and my laptop (courtesy of my XG-ME driver 😉 ). The 81.84's are actually the first 80-Series drivers that I would recommend to someone, and they've actually got a spot on my machine for more than an hour or so 😛 😉 .

I haven't been able to install the drivers w/out it being unable to detect my 2005FPW, i'm stuck in 800x600 and like 000.4 bit color land. If I can figure out a way to get it to work, then I'd love to bench it w/ my 3800 X2. So my experience hasn't been great, I always have to revert to previous drivers.

latest betas (81.84 IIRC) didn't fix the nvidia farcry shadow problems 😛...other than that they seem fine...
