can you use the geforce fx demos in nvidia's website with your lower model geforce? mine is a geforce 4 ti4200. i also want to use geforce 3 demos and lower models with my geforce 4, is this possible? thanks in advance

Nope, they require a DirectX 9-compatible video card...I've tried with my ti4400...Unless there is some hack I don't know of. I know Radeons can run them, though.

You can run them. Just not smoothly. Theres a nV30 wrapper somewhere on the nVidia website.
And ATI cards can only run the nV30 Dawn Demo.

The demo's on nVidia's website each state which card they were intended for.

You should be able to run any demo intended for a card equal or older than the card you have.

You generally won't be able to run and demo intended for a card newer then the card you have.

So, you won't be able to run the Dawn, Dusk, Ogre, Last Chance Gas, etc... Geforce FX demo's on a Geforce 4. These demo's require DirectX 9 functionality.

It is possible to run things like dawn on a GF4, even on a GF3. Just search the nVidia website for the nV30 wrapper. It is there, and ive seen in running (GF4Ti4200 running Dawn demo, not exactely smooth!)

what exactly is the nv30 wrapper? have you viewed the geforcefx demos on an older card?
Its a software wrapper which will allow you to run the non ultra version of the Dawn Demo. Ive checked the nVidia website, and i cant find it, but it was there when nV30 was being produced. Prehaps they removed it when they released that it had reference to "that card".

Yeah let us know if the Radeon demos work. 🙂

You can't always run older Geforce demos on your newer model GF. There's an older Cloth Demo, that was even made for the GF3, that I couldn't run on my GF3, because Nvidia told me they changed their drivers and removed something that this demo needed. I didn' t want to go back to (real) old drivers to run it. I can't remember more detail. I have their email saved somewhere at home.

I always like the Chameleon and Grove GF demos.
The Radeon Bear is cool too.

You mean FPS not SPF. lol.

No, quite literally 8 Seconds Per Frame, I have to wait practically 8 or 10 seconds until the next frame is rendered. I wouldn't bother running those demos unless you have a DX9 card (Radeon 9x00/nv30+).

Oh. lol.
I wouldnt be too impressed with DX9 cards at the moment, the DX9 5200s and 5200Ultra cant run the Dawn demo smoothly either, and the 5600s ocasionally stutter as well, depending on the system behind them.
