Surfed around the internet and found an intresting banner. It was nvidia doing some ad show for the 6800 card. The ad said "This is what you have been waiting for". Hey I thought, I am still waiting. So wh not call it "this is what you are waiting for"? nvidia can never be faster then ATI x800 if no one can use it right?

And yes, I have read the news that nvidia will release a limited numbers of 6800 next week, but I really dont care, it might just be another lie. Now, I dont mind that nvidia is forced to delay stuff. Not everything goes as planned, an universal truth. What nvidia is doing wrong, and most other companies aswell is that the hope that, gamers in this case, will preorder their card and wait it out. The company then starts ignoring the press and whoops a few weeks later the card drops in, and no one has the strengh to protest on the delays. So my counter attack is to buy x800 although I thought about buying 6800 at first.

Yeah, big flub on their part. No one's going to care, we're all consumer whores, we'll buy it the second it comes out.

They know this. I'm not saying this was done on purpose, I don't think it was, but a little feverish anticipation amongst consumers never hurt anyone.

Ya well I hope you are happy with that card when you learn that the 6800 rapes the X800 because you were too impatient.

outside of a few X800 pro cards I dont see many new ATI cards in the channel either.

X800 Pro is ok but only the 12 pipe card so it is like releasing the 9600 first vs the 9800 Pro.

Yesteday Gateway had the XT on sale and today zip zoom fly does (gateway sold out): Zip Zoom Fly

520 MHz and it says they are in stock :)

EDIT.... sold out after 1 hour :(.... I guess it's encouraging at least to see two companies release retail cards on two consecutive days. At this rate the store shelves should be full in a month or so :)

Meaning Zip Zoom Fly doesn't have any in inventory and they are ordering individual cards for customers. Looks like they can't get mass shipments in yet.

when you realize the 6800 is better only AFTER you were too impatient to wait, don't come crying to us. Honestly, don't make posts of self assurance, you can make your own descisions for yourself, you are your own captain ;)

edit: and your "course of action" makes no sense because all you are doing is settling for something you originally didnt want ;)

Hmmm....I think anyone will be happy with either brand of the next gen cards. Massive performance leaps compared to the last generation. And its so close I doubt there would be any buyers remorse. Just people arguing in favor of their video card because its kickass

let's see how nvidias "new drivers" work out, because if they actually do increae performance 30%, i'll be getting a 6800 GT regaurdless of wait time :)

Correction... they and gateway had inventory for about an hour.... Talk about selling quick! Both sales were posted here on the forums and were gone in an hour. Now we have to wait for their second shipment :(

I don't see how the 6800 couldn't be faster than an x800 pro, because it sure is a lot more money (preorder atleast)
