NVidia compiler to offload work to GPU

Today, NVIDIA announced the release of beta versions of the SDK and C compiler for their Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) technology. The C compiler includes a set of C language extensions that will enable developers to write C code that targets NVIDIA's GPUs directly. These extensions are supported by software libraries and a special CUDA driver that exposes the GPU to the OS and applications as a math coprocessor....

It is not the first time these ideas float up. Lets hope that this time there will be some real software - imagine Rosetta or Seti or QMC om a system with SLI-cards ... quite a lot of FLOPS! 🙂
I would even buy cards for my comps - quite a few of them! 😀

(of course this comes from an Nvidiot (me) that won't put ATI cards in my PCs...) :roll:
