Nvidia CEO: Android tablets sell poorly because they're too expensive

lol, no

why can't you just admit Apple has a better product? The sales figures don't lie when you compare apples to apples.
Apple's products are very rarely better than the rest. They have better marketing that leads you to believe that their products are superior when they really aren't. Exceptions would be the first iPhone and iPods. Those products were ground breaking. Everything else is like "hey look at this pretty logo, you know that makes it better than everything else, right?"

Sales figures don't mean something is a better product. We know that to be true. I'm not saying the iPad isn't the best tablet out right now, because it is, but sales figures does not mean something is better than the other because that would mean Apple computers and phones suck.

He didn't say anything of the sort. But when Average Joe sees a drive for 499 and another similar device for 599, which gets bought? Doesn't matter what the specs are or who made it, the cheaper one usually gets purchased.

Reviews of several Android tablets have been pretty positive too, FYI. AT reviewed both the Xoom and Transformer positively remember.

We will be seeing some cool stuff from Android tablets this summer/fall/winter though. 🙂

It was implied.

If the iPad was overpriced, people wouldn't be lining up for them either.

Similarly, the EEEpad, priced $100 less than the base iPad, seems to be the perfect price since it is sold out everywhere - and rather appropriately - 20% inferior to the iPad.

because sales figures do not equal a better product. if that were true then McDs would be making the best cheeseburger ever

the too expensive thing is pretty true, the majority of android users aren't going to spend money on something just to have it like apple users, the market sales reflect exactly this

the Xoom was (is) really over priced and sold like shit, the EEE pad is priced correctly and is sold out everywhere.

apple also had what over a year lead in the tablet market

Sales figures don't ALWAYS equal a better product, but it often DOES.

In obvious cases - like cars, computers, electronics etc... it DOES ... (in its market range, obviously).

you win in business by doing something cheaper or better than your competitors

McD does it cheaper

Asus does it cheaper AND better

Apple does it better. (although strangely enough also cheaper in some cases)

There's nothing cheap about it. You get what you pay for. It only seems cheaper sometimes (iPad) because you get something so good that it actually feels like it should have cost you more.

That's when you know YOU win and these fanboys who can't see past labels and brands and the blatant superiority of many Apple products over their precious obscure plasticky devices that are so customizable and hackable... yet so much less useful.

Has anyone even been to an Apple store in their lives? They're full of ... well... non-nerds for one (regular people), and completely devoid of hipsters that would actually be far more at home with an obscure Android device.

Btw. I get ice cream cones at McD not cuz they're the best, but cuz they're good enough and only 69 fucking cents each.

Remember, TWO ways to succeed in business: BETTER, or CHEAPER.

I don't think you know what a hipster is. Apple devices are a hipsters best friend. I'm not gonna comment about your other stuff because we've talked about that in other threads.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR? That's about as far from the truth as you could be when describing Apple. You get a shiny box with a logo on it that has the same parts as everyone else for 2x the money. This isn't exactly the case when it comes to their mobile devices (they're only slightly more expensive than they should be), but it is definitely the case with their PCs.

These are the people who use Apple products:

REGULAR PEOPLE:

Of course but you said that hipsters don't buy them and hipsters practically buy exclusively Apple products. It's just like your argument that you always use that nerds living in their basement only buy Android products and well seeing as Android is #1 in the world and there are definitely NOT that many nerds in the world, more regular people buy Android then Apple. Plus, regular people don't line up over-night for a product, those are nerds.

LOL? Who the fuck do you think you're kidding?

My iMac has a built in 27" IPS Screen that in itself costs $1K. Feel free to add up the rest. 🙄

The problem with you people is that your intellectual facility limits yourself to stereotypes and fanboyism.

If 5 people out of every 100 people are Hipsters, and 5/5 of those hipsters buy Apple products.. that doesn't make the other 45 people who buy Apple products hipsters.

Did I say that? I said hipsters buy Apple products. It's well known they do. Did I say every single person that buys an Apple product is a hipster? You seriously need to chill out with the personal attacks you always throw out to everyone.

Those people are far from regular as they are waiting in a line for something that is not essential for them to continue living. REGULAR people don't do that. I'm sure you could come up with millions of examples of people waiting in line for ridiculous shit, but that doesn't mean that they are REGULAR people.

Those are clearly Apple fanatics, but hopefully the point was that even Apple fanatics are basically everyday people (NOT your stereotypical ones)..

Apple stores are populated with fat, average, suit and tie guys and boring waspy girls.

Inductive logic.

I don't know if I would call getting an android device for free "buying"

Well the 3GS is $50 so it's obviously not worth the premium. If it was so much better it'd be worth it and it's obviously not. Plus the best selling Android phones have been the Galaxy S and I don't remember them being free. They were the same prices as iPhones.

but the #'s driving up Android's marketshare are due to free phones, IMHO. Anecdotal but 4 family members have android phones, only cuz they're free.

Umm... regular people don't wait in line for two days just a shiny new gadget two weeks sooner than anyone else. Those people are either extreme Apple fanboys, or some rich person with more money than brains hired them to wait there.

I didn't say they weren't fanboys to the extreme, but Apple fanboys are just regular people, not a bunch of hipsters in tight jeans.

ironic hipsters not found in picture. Where's the fixies? PBR? Hoodies?
