Yeah, I don't know how there hasn't been a forced recall by the EU on this design. I mean, I understand there being nothing done in the good'ol USA because the consumer protections are a complete joke and multiple people need to die before they force a recall from here, property damage is just an issue for the consumer's insurance (or lack of it), nothing to do with the government...And now what to do with 12+4 crap connector use 2x (how would you have 2 at all???) or 1 and have our homes burned down, I ask if there any sane journalist to address this and nvidia is put to stop with their insane crap?

NV and MSFT being sued for patent infringement. They are requesting an injunction to stop Blackwell sales until there’s a resolution. I don’t think anything impactful will come from this, but here’s the story.

[News] NVIDIA Sued for Patent Infringement, Asked to Halt Sales of Blackwell Architecture GPUs
According to a report from The Register, DPU developer Xockets recently filed a lawsuit, accusing AI chip giant NVIDIA, Microsoft, and intellectual pr...www.trendforce.com
The report highlights that Microsoft and NVIDIA may not be Xockets’ only targets but are at least the most profitable ones. Other companies, such as Broadcom, Intel, AMD, Marvell, Napatech, and Amazon, are also actively developing products similar to NVIDIA’s ConnectX, BlueField, and NVLink.
So 5070 is 12gb![]()
The fact that the 5080 has less than half the cores as the 5090 just rubs me the wrong way. At least keep the same ratio as the 4000 series (ideally give the 5080 some more, and buff the RAM too). Bollox move.

I was figuring the 5080 was going to take the 1500$ tier, which IMHO would be awful.so I expect the 5080 will be priced less
But nvidia gets to sell the 5080ti and than the 5080 super. 3 wallet grabsThe fact that the 5080 has less than half the cores as the 5090 just rubs me the wrong way. At least keep the same ratio as the 4000 series (ideally give the 5080 some more, and buff the RAM too). Bollox move.
Wow, a 5080 that only still has 16 GB of VRAM? I have long since given up PC gaming as a hobby, but even I find this insulting. Also, according to Kopite, the 5080 has ~10.7k CUDA cores, so I don't expect it to be much faster than a 4090. What's the strategy here? Offer 4090 performance for $999 but with substantially less VRAM? I suspect there will be some new DLSS that goes hand-in-hand with the launch to market the 5080 as being able to punch above the 4090 in certain titles. I hope Tensor Memory Compression is one of them because 16 GB ain't going to cut it in 4K titles.
Kopite claims the 5090 will have the full 512-bit memory bus. So 32 GB of ram and more memory bandwidth. Also 600 W.
I bet the price will be decently more than $1999 then.
The 5080 is the full GB203 so at least it's more SMs than the 4080 Super. Also it's 400 W.

Great, so the 5080 will be roughly 4090 performance with some new AI features thrown in that let's it punch above a 4090 on paper while only being a little cheaper and with 8 GB less VRAM.AI of course.
I'm going to guess it's going to be $1299.
I was figuring the 5080 was going to take the 1500$ tier, which IMHO would be awful.
Especially if the 5090 is 2k or >.
Problem with these high prices makes it then difficult to price the 5070 Ti and the 5070. they then are either too expensive or too attractive in comparison. And if AMD can release n48 at $500 and beat a 5070, it gets even more difficult to justify the extreme high prices for a 5080 at least.I'm going to guess it's going to be $1299
I'm sure their strategy might to sell the real 5080 at $1500 with one added detail: they'll call it 5080 Ti!I was figuring the 5080 was going to take the 1500$ tier, which IMHO would be awful.

Hurray for the consumer. /s
