Competition bashing, particularly in internal documents is nothing out of the ordinary. Granted, these are especially heated and make some pretty biting accusations but I don't doubt ATI does the same thing.

i may be saying something really stupid here... but has anyone actually questioned whether these slides are real? i mean isnt just a little to perfect that they have written on then "nvidea corporation" or whatever it says.. i mean cmon guys...

and lastly... im not having a dig at anyone.. i respect peoples opinions and everyone has a write to speak (especially in a forum) but what are we doing? As a big generalisation.. we are a bunch of students/IT tech ppl (most of us) and where trying to say that a multi billion dollar company is or is not doing the right thing with there marketing.... How bout we leave the marketing to the professionals (and im sure the people an nvidia and ati ARE professionals) and we just have fun jumping on either side of the fence cause to be honest i really doubt there are to many of us here that do marketing.. let alone for a huge company...

sorry if i have offended... just my two cents..

"NV Comments On ATi?
Ronald Gasch, the main man over at 3DCenter, sent me a link to what is supposed to be an internal document from NVIDIA that is criticizing the ATi X800. Obviously all of this has to be taken with a few really big grains of salt because the ?document? has several flaws in it which draw its authenticity into question. We are contacting NVIDIA for their comments and will update you as soon as we hear back from them.

Kyle's Update: I just got off the phone with NVIDIA PR front man Derek Perez. He did confirm that the slides linked above are NVIDIA's creation. The slide are just a few from a set of "20 or 30" that were developed by NVIDIA's USA Product Marketing team that were to be used only as a sales tool internally. Derek did say, "I am not going to apologize for them." He went on to explain how they need to outfit their sales teams as they see fit. Now that we are through that, we are hoping to see retail GeForce 6 hardware soon."

I am sure the rhetoric will tone down when they have something for sale. The big fear of both companies is that the other will actually have something on the shelves to sell in quantity. ATI has sold all 50 of the x800pro's produced and would have sold many more if they had them. Even fanbois can accept vapor ware for so long before changing sides.

so what your saying is we have been told that the slides are legit...

kewl.. nice work nvidia then :) way to rock the boat lol.. i mean is there a better way to totally divide the community (either ATI or nvidia) than to start bagging the other company.. makes us all take sides doesnt it.. problem is though if they offend more ppl than they bargained for everyone might take ATI's side lol

why are they talking?
they bought a company that created a voodoo3 out of a voodoo1
they are the company that created a geforce4 out of a geforce1

Well, X800 is a soup'd up R300...Big woop, the R300 is still one heck of a good card, and will be for most games realease in the next year IMO.

The crime would have been if ATi used NV30/35 in the X800...;)

But yea, Nvidia is just trying to make points on why a company should carry NV40 over R420, so i wouldn't hate them too much for it. Granted some of the points are abit weak. The "not knowing" how to do 3.0 is one of them.

Hey Zebo,
take a look at this and tell me which company looks like it has growth:

This exact same thing happened a little over 3 years ago when powerpoint slides that pitted NVDA's GeForce chips against the Kyro II were leaked. That one was even more interesting because it was discouraging graphics card manufacturers from using any Kyro chips in their products. My Hercules Kyro II was probably the best bang-for-buck card I ever owned...

Anyone that says that ATI or any other company doesnt slam other companies in internal meetings etc.. must still be in high school because business is a war..
Hell half the commericals on TV have been flat out using competitor names when using their comparisons now.. Coke and Pepsi were the first to ever do it in a commercial and set the trend
the nature of business is a nasty moraless business and only the most ruthless survive..
if you really think that companies dont talk about each other negatively behind closed doors youre crazy.
