Nvidia and Futurmark are now blood brothers.

Rival ATI Technologies was quite willing to continue the mudslinging. "It's a shame that a large company(Nvidia) with a lot of money and access to expensive lawyers can beat a small company(Futuremark) into submission," said Chris Evendon, director of public relations for ATI.

Totally disgusting behavoir by Nvidia.

Whats makes you think this is all laywer related? Nvidia could have just handed them mucho money.

nemesismk2, if this is winning for you, then I think we all should pray for you

Pray for me? Get real my soul is way past being saved. I'm Nvidia until I die or atleast until PowerVR release the Kyro4! 😀

I know some of the employee's in the PR department in Nvidia and they are a great bunch of guys, they would never knowingly be dishonest. While I'm talking about PR departments, the PR employee with the sexiest voice has to be Nancy from Pny, what a babe! 🙂

to all those who believe that synthetic benchmarks are worthless, here is a quote from dave baumann(editor of beyond3.com) to kyle of [T]art ocp (source: rage3d forum):
"Question: If 3DMark isn't around what are you going to use to have any understanding of the relative performances of those lovely new features that you've read all the marketting spiel about and reviewers have faithfully regurgitated?"
so how are todays dx7 and dx8 games supposed to measure your video cards ability to do dx9.Anyone? Anyone? Thats why synthetic benchmarks are worth something. If I spend 500 dollars on video card Id like to know how good they will be with upcoming games (that use dx9 and other fancy features) and right now nothing other than 3dm03 even begins to measure that.

later,

Without games to use those advanced features those advanced features are worthless to gamers (i.e. who cares about DX9). So it matters not if we can't test those new features since we don't care if they exist or not, right?

Damn, logic is so rare these days.

All I'm saying is none of this disuaded me from purchasing a 83$ ti4200 this weekend to upgrade my old ti200 😉

And it won't be disuading me from buying a GF FX 5600 Ultra ViVo later this year either. 😛

I`m still waiting to buy my FX 5900 Value card, like I said before people buy these sort of cards for real gaming not stupid benchmarks 😉.

Thanks for posting fellas, I appreciate all the povs!

Here is a little something from me to-

This would be valid if DX9.0 games weren't on the horizon. 4 months from now we will have at least one game on the market that uses DX9.0. The fact is we should care about DX9.0 because hardware vendors need to make sure that their hardware runs it efficently and at this stage in hardware development the only software to test the performance of a video card in Dx9.0 is 3dmark.

Your statement would have made sense about 5 months ago but at the moment when dx9.0 games are finally merging with the horizon gamers should know if their new 500$ card is going to play those DX9.0 games well.

Also some more info regarding the "semantical" problem with the accusation.

Q: Does this mean what you called originally as "cheats" actually were acceptable "optimizations", and that you made a wrong decicion in releasing Patch 330 and the Audit Report?
A: By the definition of our benchmark and process, the optimizations are not acceptable. 3DMark scores are only comparable if drivers perform exactly the work 3DMark instructs them to do.

Holy Sh*t! Somebody actually posted what I've been posting about this since day one! Logic is indeed rare.

Wow! One whole game 4 months from now! We all better prepare for that!
Err, wait a minute. I buy a new card every 6-9 months, so maybe if I like the game I should let that affect my next decision?

No kidding? ATI is sad that Futuremark and nVidia are no longer at war? Who would have guessed that?

Rogo, DoomIII is the only game I know of featuring DX9 functionality but that is not to say that more aren't coming. I just haven't heard of any more. As it stands, I do intend to play DoomIII. By the time that game comes out the FX 5600 Ultra (rev.2) I plan to buy (or maybe a value edition of the 5900) WILL have much better performance and visual quality than they might have now. Just think about how the GF4 improved over time. I expect the same for the GF FX line.

with that logic Rollo and quoted one, why even put DX9 on your system? but then again, maybe you haven't...
there is a lot more to the latest DX version than games. Basically anything with video and audio playback takes advantage of new features.

yea, I do agree that ATI should just be quiet. They are beginning to sound quite pretentious and self-righteous.
although I can't say I love nvidia's ASS either.

Yep I think they will improve just as much!

As will the r300 and r350-just like the 8500 did with driver revisions!

I actually like to have it on my system to show off the dx9 demos-dawn, the garg clock, the dogs, the lava, the globes, the animusic, lada lada.

doesn't hurt anything 😉

and my porn looks BETTER.

how about playing a game YOU LIKE... if it runs at a playable setting your system is fine :?

Exactly!!! UT2003 IS my favorite game right now so this benchmark is very appropriate for me to use. I imagine that when DoomIII hits the shelves I'll upgrade to a benchmark based on that game at that time.

Oh, I also use the Comanche4 Demo Benchmark in my own little suite of apps. It is a good D3D test, too.
