Well it could be either a logical renaming to formally split the compute & gaming GPU's, or - slightly frighteningly - related to what comes after V100 in compute terms.

That market is moving so fast that I think we have to expect them to go in with a new compute chip the moment there's a half usable process.....

I'm glad we will have a new Geforce option to fuel the new Battlefield game coming in 2018 if more GPU power is necessary. The next one should be another mid range card though selling in the $7-800 range, so I'll likely skip that release since I'm on the Ti cycle.

I wish I stayed in the Ti cycle, instead I'm on a 1080 and feel I cannot wait for this year's Ti.

There's very little rumour going on up to now regarding this year's consumer line :(

They seem to have those under quite good control these days - I don't really remember many rumours before Pascal arrived either.

Nowadays there are no leaks coming from Nvidia. Leaks start to appear, when partners get samples. But this is just happening 3,4 weeks before card production (For reference designs, custom needs more time).

Right as rain! It's my inability to be patient when it comes to GPU launches/information.

Well, NV are so reliable these days that you can almost predict what you're getting years in advance :)

I can, more or less, but it's not real until it is ha ha.

I'm hoping for Samsung's GDDR6, looks good and faster than SK Hynix its solution. Anyone jumping on a 2080 or will you wait for the Ti?

Anyone want to guess, if NV is going to use "current mining prices" for video cards, as an excuse to raise their MSRP on this next series of cards? I have this little feeling that they might.

I'm not a huge fan of NV, but with AMD seemingly stuck in a rut, and looking for higher-end mining cards, I might get another NV card. (I did recently this month splash out for a GTX 1070 ti, thankfully before "mining prices".)

They really got nothing to lose by selling it $300-$400 (or more) more than the last model's MSRP.

I will likely wait for the Ti. I'm sure the mid ranger will be tempting and look good, but I expect a high cost for a mid range card as usual. I expect the 2080 to be like 15-20% faster than a 1080Ti. Not worth the $7-800 IMO.

I'm going to at least wait for the Ti as I feel like we're at a point where we need 4k120 or 8k to start taking hold in order to justify cards faster than the 1080Ti. I'd love to just wait for 8k120, but that's probably five or six years off at least.

Agreed! I will be so tempted I'll likely pick one up ha ha, and then hop back onto the Ti wagon. A 2080 will be a worthy upgrade over a 1080 and ever more so a Ti over the former.

So it's looking like Ampere will come into the world come March...

Where did you get that?

Subtle hints from. Nvidia someone made me aware of, low to no stock and the fact they can't maintain the current market with the mining craze and no product. All speculation and interpretation, but sensible IMO.

March is a bit too early. I only expect the presentation at the GTC. Most companys don't start production directly before chinese new year. Normally you start after that, that's after the 21th february for a reasonable production start. 4 Weeks to produce enough cards and 2 weeks shipping, so end of april sounds good for me.

Normally doesn't cut it right now because they have nothing to sell so end of April would be too big a gap, I feel, and will cost them customers. Didn't we have a release in March in the past, or was that some Ti card?

I think the next gen of high end cards should allow us to maintain 4k60 with some margin of safety. Very few new games would run locked 4k60 on my TXP.

We also need powerful cards to brute force through crappily optimized open world gamesI I get dips into the 70 FPS range at 1440p in PUBG

GTC 2018 is at the end of march.

Yeah, we were talking about the end of April, but I only said April - my bad.

Also, I don't think they ever released new cards in April? Usually it's March or May, I think? Time will tell, unfortunately (because I want to know it now ha ha).

And then there are the cryptominers..... Do you suppose that they'll scoop up these cards at debut leaving consumers high and dry while driving prices through the roof for them?
