When I double click on it the install process starts then I get a error that I must remove the previous version first so I say OK then I get this error?

"could not get old installer uninstallstring" and it quits.

Sure is frustrating

i've had nothing but problems with activearmor. The web interface is awkward, installation of a new version has corrupted my windows multiple times, and I often get "Page not found" errors and have to retry to get pages to load. Eventually gave up and disabled it. Now I'm using Windows firewall, which is simple (although it doesn't have outgoing protection) and works well enough for me. I may try a hardware firewall via my router, or maybe give Zonealarm or Kerio a try, but either way, activearmor is not worth the trouble.
