Nvidia accused of cheating over graphics tech

Acanthus, you missed my point. Since you can;t buy a 6800U yet, they don;t count as being the fastest. So technically, right now ATI still has the lead. I grant you, I am VERY impressed with the reference card preview I read about, but until I can buy one, who cares ?

ATI did replace shaders in an early version of 3dmark 2003 which took advantage of Water and Sky. The shaders were 100% correct and gave a 100% accurate software renderer result. Many claim that it was a valid optimisation and if it was a game it would have been fine. 3dmark claimed that since their software is a benchmark only, it made the ATI optimizations invalid, so ATI removed those optimizations immediately on the next released driver set.

Funny how ATi had graphics anomolies too, but no one seemed to notice them appopin. Funny when i said that it was BETA HARDWARE WITH BETA FIRMWARE ON BETA DRIVERS. No one has anything to say. If the X800 series had issues before release, i would wait until AFTER RELEASE to talk about it. This is a PREVIEW not seeing the future through friggin magic.

Lol...I`ve to agree ,anyway the 6800 Ultra is not even out yet and we all know there`ll be new drivers out by then so what we see now is not really important.


As to cheating well I`m going to sit on the fence on this one and stay neutral,at the end of the day all I care about is a good card from either Nvidia or ATi depending on which model is best for me on price & performance, stability is more important to me in gaming then anything else,so far I`ve had good stability from both ATi and Nvidia.

How long before we see another cheating thread pop up .

ati is currently worth $4.19billion versus nvidia's $3.85 billion. on the other hand nvidia has higher revenue and profits than ati.

Nvidia released those drivers with the 6800ultra to be reviewed. To say anything else is just silly. IQ will probably improve with new drivers, but to shoot the messenger is not in the best interests of consumers.

Regardless those drivers will only be what Nvidia can release at the time,it does not mean they are 100% perfect,I`ve yet to see any company release a driver with a new video product that`s near perfect.Nvidia will improve the drivers for the 6800 that`s a fact.

Drivers are always evolving,especially with new products,are you going to worry about a so called "cheating driver " on a product that`s not even out yet?

Bottom line it`s too early to judge IMHO,especially for the reasons I`ve listed above.
