Nice! After-market cooling will definitely benefit this card however, I didn't actually see too much improvement when pushing the core with the GT, certainly nothing like OC'ing the GTS. Just feels like something is bottle-necking core increases. Went back and looked at some reviews and it seems to be pretty consistent with their results. If you look at 600MHz stock GTs compared to 650/660MHz OC'd GTs the difference is usually minimal.

Right now I think I am maxing out....

756MHz core

Just when I think its over...... 765MHz testing right now, no errors for 3 mins so far..... 50c Load

I have not tested yet, I am still testing clocks and such for stability. Will run 3dm06 in a bit (10 mins)

Cpu bottleneck ?

Videocard throttle back ?

Powersupply ?

MB ?

Pci-e ?

I dont know, its justa 40MHz core, 100MHz shader jump so Im not expecting anything

Evga SSC 770/1786/2000 3DMark06 14400. Rig in sig except 3dmark was run in XP.

AtiTool gives me a few blips at 780 (nothing visible but it dings and restarts the clock every so often so I set it back a little). Stock cooler with fan @ 70%, load max temp is 64.

No love on the shaders though. Reason I put 1786 is because thats what Rivatuners hardware monitoring detects. I can put it to 1800 (still detects 1786) but anything over that and Rivatuner detects it at 1836 and I start getting errors so it obviously still jumps in certain steps even though I've selected to clock them independently.

Does anyone have any UT3 numbers on the difference between 700mhz and say, 750+ ?

since I am top ocer 😉 lol

I'll have my Thermalright V2 tomorrow and 70 CFM fan. 🙂 Then if temps are good, on to the volt mod. MUHAHAHA

You are getting 780/1900 with just a Zalman 1000LED? Is that the SC version? Voltmod can go up to 850-860/2000-2100 shaders I've seen so far. If I can get close to yours with just cooling I may not bother with the mod, but have my 1K potentiometer right here. 🙂

Here are my long overdue air duct pictures:

Air Duct 1
AirD2
AirD3
AirD4
AirD5

I did a quick test running the Air Duct directly pointing to the 8800GT as shown in the last picture and were able to get my shaders from my normal OC of 1753 to 1809 ati tool stable. Core didn't move much from 731 to 740.

Load difference was from 60C when the air duct is pushing air behind the PC and 53C when the duct is directed to the Video card. That of course depends on how cold its outside.

Without the air duct I was getting 77C load at 100 fan speed.

Cant wait to try an after market cooler. 🙂

swethan something isn't right with your 3DMark06 scores. I scored 14500 with my card clocked at 740/1782/2000 and my Q6600 and 3.15GHz. You should be well over 15k maybe even nearing 16k at those clocks.

how did you get ATITool to work in Vx64? I can run the app but it keeps telling me my card isn't selected for output or something lame... 🙁 RivaTuner works fine but ATITool gays out.

I only use atitool to scan for artifacts, I cannot adjust the clocks or anything.

yeah thats all i want it for... it doesnt work for anything! 🙁

That's great. I installed the V2 which was really easy BTW with no mods needed. However my OC didn't go up at all! Load temp stays at 47C under ATItool. I guess I got a board with a lot of vdroop. So I will try to do the vmod this weekend and bump the voltage up to 1.2 or so.

That duct would be really good with an aftermarket cooler. I'm sure you would get temps equal to water cooling in the 35-40C range.
