Nvidia 8800 GTS SLI with a 9800 gt?

Ok kind of what I thought but thought maybe because of them being the same chipset just different named that it might work. So I guess my next question is would upgrading to a Radeon 4850 see any significant performance increase? My CPU is a e6600 on a 22in monitor so 1650 x 1050 is the max resolution.

No, G92 GTS -> 4850 is pretty much a sideways step. I wouldn't upgrade to anything slower than a 1GB 4870/GTX 260 216. Personally, I wouldn't upgrade at all if I was using that card. Are you not satisfied with its performance?

9800GT = 8800GT shrink so you can flash 1 to the other and SLI them. 8800GTS 512 (we are assuming you have the 512 rather than 320/640 which are g80) is more like the 9800gtx though I'm not sure if you can flash & SLI those.

another 8800 GTS is $134 at newegg and the cheapest 9800 gt is $119. If you are thinking about SLI then you might as well get the card that you know will work. Theres very little difference between the 9800 GTX and the 8800 GTS other than the clocks and tri sli.

If you are running the 320 or 640 then you might want to sell your current card and upgrade like vj8usa said.
