kpep in mind that this is a factory overclocked model. but, unlike other factory overclocked models, it looks like it isn't too overclocked, as there is plenty of extra headroom. i wonder if this is typical or a ringer?

edit: depending on the price you might be better off with a factory overclocked 7600GS model.

It's a good budget card, if they can manage to price it accordingly. Considering that the 7600gs can be had for $100 these days, this should cost no more than $70-80.

The 7300GT oc'd (8 pipe) should be more than enough to beat the X1300 pro and the X1600 pro aswell possibly.

The realy interesting thing was the 16 pipes (total) of the G73. I did say that the 7600GTX (if they made one) should be a 16 pipe card, looks like it's entirely possible.

Now RivaTuner needs to unlock nVidia's new method of masking the pipes. I wouldn't mind getting 4x more pipes from my 7600GT :)

What I think is pretty sad, is the 7300GT in that review would do 640mhz on the core. My full blown 7600GT will only do around 605mhz. Maybe I need to update this eVGA Reference cooler to something alittle better.

At least I can get the memory to '1652 Mhz' which is where most of the performance gain will come from.

Damn Nvidia, locking up their pipes real tight. If you could unlock it to 16 pipes it'd be a better then then the GTO2 ever was.

How do we know it's even possible to unlock the pipes? Are they disabled by laser cuts, blowing internal fuses, or some bios/software method?

I've read on other boards that they are laser cut so there's no way to ever unlock them.

VIVO?

The 6600GT is a great HTPC card. If they can get these out with VIVO and HDTV output this card could be the next big thing.

Looks like the DDR3 ones will hit later on...

Are those newegg specs correct? The ones on newegg seem to have significantly lower specs than the one in the review. It will not match a 6600gt with those lower specs.

Actually, the benchmark contained both a stock Geforce 7300GT and an overclocked one.

"We have three opponents. The GeForce 6600GT, GeForce 7300GT, and the GeForce 7300GT overclocked to 640/1600"

In every single scenario, the stock Geforce 7300GT bested the 6600GT.

A bit of a correction.

They have the "stock" 500MHZ/1400MHZ and 640MHZ/1600MHZ as well as a Nvidia reference 500MHZ/1000MHZ 6600 GT.

The Nvidia reference specs for a 7300 GT call for 350MHZ/667MHZ which is only enough to be competitive with the 6600 DDR2.

if those are stock specs, this card looks to be a ridiculous overclocker; mem overclocks to almost 2.5x stock and core can double... insane!

Yeah, 7600GS looks like a better buy right now....depends on the price of the GDDR3 version

They are the same as EVGA's site. 64bit & DDR2, seems more in line with what nV does with GS v. GT. These 128bit+DDR3 models aren't likely to be priced to sell, particularly if the 7600GS price drops before they are here in good supply, if ever.

How can a stock 7300GT beat a 6600GT when even a standard 7600GS with higher specs is not a great deal faster on average? This review doesn't seem realistic enough for me.... I'll wait until Anandtech or others review it before I make any further comments.

If you look at the comparative specs Text then give the 7300GT 500+ core, and the same Samsung 1.4ns GDDR3 the 7600GT uses, it isn't hard to except.

I thought they included a standard 7300GT in the review as well as the overclocked one? Or were they both overclocked?

It is the same InnoVISION GeForce 7300GT, it is factory overclocked- GDDR3@700mhz, and core@500mhz, they managed 640/800 after that.
