The whole story....

I had a problem with video playback in VLC and Media Player where the video was very dark. So I got the latest drivers for my NVidia 6800.
"163.75 forceware drivers for windows xp"

That fixed the darkness issues. But now i have a new problem in both Media Player and VLC. When I play back video, the video appears almost like it is in 8 bit color. I want to say it is better than that, but I don't think its even 16 bit color.

It looks really bad.

Anyone know how to fix this? NVidia's web site was no help.

EDIT:
I am almost certain at this point that the video is being played back using an 8 bit color pallet.

Thanks.

I'll give the beta a try. I think the ones I downloaded were the latest "official" release. If not, NVidia has serious web site problems.

No you got the latest WHQL release. They only WHQL every few months and release a new beta about once a month or so.

Well, the beta drivers are nice I guess.

I haveto go into the NVidia Control Panel and adjust the video color settings. I started to and it is alot better. I think the settings are so far off by default that it looked 8 bit. yes, it was that bad. Still makes no sense to me.
