nVidia 6.31 drivers

Hello All,

Currently, I'm using a Creative TnT2 with nVidia 6.31 drivers. Is it true that I can shutdown Windows, remove the card, install a GeForce 2 (or any other nvidia card), boot up and everything will work due to the fact that these drivers are generic and will work with any nVidia card? I won't have to reinstall the drivers. If this is true, what will Windows say when it boots up and sees the new card?

Thanks for any info.

Pretty close to right. You should go to device manager and remove the tnt then shut down and install new card and reboot Windows will detect what ever card you install

Just my personal opinion, but i prefer to fully remove all drivers, remove the card and completely reinstall any new video card. The cleaner the install the better IMHO

Thanks for your input. I ended up removing the TNT 2 card, installing the GeForce 2, letting Win detect the new card, then directing it to the folder where I keep the extracted 6.31 files. It loaded up and everything works great! I never deleted the TNT 2 drivers because they're the exact same drivers...the generic ones from nVidia.

The GeForce 2 really does kick butt...I got the Hercules Prophet Series...I love it!
