Nvidia 590 SLI mobo for Conroe?

Not really up on all this new stuff and hardware in general, but am looking into building a new gaming machine. Obviously the buzz is Intel and like others, I would be more convinced to go with Intel if we could see some solid benchmarks on a fully loaded gaming rig. Anyhow, I was considering an AMD 5000+, Nvidia 590 SLI mobo, Nvidia GX2 and 2GB Corsair RAM, but with the Conroe out, I am leaning away from AMD. Is there currently an Nvidia 590 SLI board out for the new Intel CPUs?

Anyone else have an AMD 5000+ and what is everyone's thoughts on the the 5000+ vs. E6700? Any comparison?

Nforce 5 series for Intel is not out, Sept release date I believe

Welcome to our humble abode captainjy. As of this time, no there is not an SLI 590 board. I think we are expecting those by the end of august IIRC. There are many knowledgeable people here on Anandtech which may be of more help than I can be. So welcome, and enjoy the fruits of what Anandtech has to offer.

Gaming is still very GPU limited. The new Intel conroe chips are the new perfomance champs for anything CPU intense, but for gaming any modern AMD or Intel CPU will be good enough and you won't see a big difference. But for video editing/encoding the newer CPU's will give you quite a boost.

Wow, I can't argue with the numbers. The interesting part of the review is the conclusion- "For $316, it's like getting an FX-62.", but even faster. I just wish an Nvidia 590 SLI mobo was out because I am dying to build a new gaming rig. Besides Ghz, what is the diff between the E6600 and E6700?

Thats because Anand ran with AA and AF off, look around at other sites. With 1600x1200 or higher with AA and AF on the differences get much smaller. And FPS numbers over 100 look nice, but really mean very little except bragging rights, anything over 80fps is undetectable with the human eye

Well sure. It's clear that the Conroe smokes AMD, but if gaming is not dramatically better with the Conroe, what's the point? I just don't like the idea of staying with Intel and I am very unhappy with Intel since they released the Conroe because now I am confused. hahahaha. I was planning on building a new machine a couple weeks, but may just wait for the 590 SLI for Intel in September. I think the bottom line is that an AMD 5000+ with 590 SLI and an Nvidia GX2 GPU will run just about any game that is out and smoothly, but it's about bang for my buck. If the Conroe will give me 3-4 solid years of running anything I choose, I will go Intel. Will the AMD 5000+ build last me 3-4 more years? Not sure about that and that's my sticking point.

yea Im intersted too in an Asus board with nforce 590. Because I have 2 7900 GTX so I need that board to SLI.

Does anybody know how this board will OC? Is it anything like that 975X chipset, or is the 400 mhz FSB just a dream on the nfroce? Anybody with a P5N32-SLI, can you give me some input on how that chipset overclocks?

Im only getting that board If i can OC the hell out of an E6600. If the FSB doesnt OC well, Ill stick with my M2N32-SLI. Because I cant buy a 975X board, its a no-no with SLI.

Wait for 590 Intel SLI boards and go C2D. As said above, when DX10 and Vista roll out, the C2D will murder the 5000+ as GPU limits are raised. Besides that, there is no logical reason to get a 5000+, even with the new price cuts the 6600 is better bang for your buck and you can likely OC a 6600 to 3+ GHz easily on air which puts it on another planet than 5000+.

Just a "rumor" on the 590 SLI north bridge is that it may run a little hot, and may hinder your OC'ing. Eh......what do I know?

That was with a 975X intel board. I cant use that with SLI. I thought I made myself clear.

If the NB on a 590 does in fact run hot, there is always aftermarket cooling. Stock cooling on MB's is usually crap anyway except on the top level enthusiast boards. If the CPU can in fact hit over 3GHz (if you accept that the 4GHz Anand hit was due to a hand picked engineering sample CPU) I am willing to spend money on aftermarket cooling. 3GHz = X6800 = worth $999, so spending $315 on cpu and another $100 on CPU and chipset cooling = bargain.
