GN one of my favorite tech channels. Tears NVidia a new one. Basically saying it's useless as a gaming card. This one might stay in stock if all the reviews are this negative:

Wow, Steve throwing some major shade at Nvidia on this one. I'm guessing they will end up on some kind of list at Nvidia after this one, lol.

I haven't had time to read the review yet, but I am puzzled if this averaged 10% or less over the 3080, that could only be because of power limits, no? The rest of the specs are things that always historically scales just fine. Not necessarily 100%, but it should definitely be closer to 15% in real life than below 10%.

This is at least very interesting. I hope we can discuss this in depth because the reasons why it scales this bad is much, much more interesting than 1000 people complaining about that fact.

Another Tech channel I subscribe to. This guy is low key (I respect that) and does a lot of SFF stuff. Another negative review, that really calls out NVidia recent 8K claims as muddying the waters around this launch (he saw 12-14% in 4K gaming).

It will, I would imagine, sell just fine for other uses.

Probably also to the sorts of people who buy these things, because rational value judgements simply don't seem to apply there.

Probably, that was kind of what Jensen said during the kitchen reveal. They were surprised how many people bought Titan cards. But still perhaps not going to bring out the scalpers as strongly.

OP updated, seems to be universally panned for basically being ~12% faster than 3080 for a colossal price.

But for the record I didn't have any problem with the sponsored videos. You still got objective FPS measure, plus it was nice seeing 8K being pushed instead of the upscaled 4K garbage we've endured for 18+ months with Turing ("4K doesn't matter!").

It's also ironic that 8K could quite possibly exceed 10GB VRAM in otherwise performant older games, yet previously we were told VRAM doesn't matter.

It's the Titan rebranded as GeForce. 10% faster, double the VRAM and double the price. I read it mentioned somewhere, and it's most likely right, that nvidia couldn't sell the mid-sized die as a flagship this gen. So we get the big die for 3090/3080, but nvidia still want to charge $1200USD! :D

3070 probably is not even consistently as fast as 2080ti.

RTX 3090 is hilariously bad value. Probably the worst deal of the decade.
As terrible as the 3090 is, its cost per frame is still lower than the 2080Ti:

The 2080Ti is a whole new league of garbage.

I guess Nvidia pre-apologized this morning before the 3090s went on sale saying that stock for the 3090 was limited. Also, according to the article, you were only able to pre-order 3090s this morning, which would mean stock is not actually available yet? Was that for AIB models as well or just the FE?

Microcenter in CA is showing 18 AIB units in stock....Probably the heaviest stocked store in the company.

Well you'd hope this year's terrible value halo card would at least beat the terrible value halo card released two years ago. At least last gen, the 2080 Ti had a 32% high cost per frame than the 2080. Here the 3090 has a 93% higher cost per frame than the 3080. This is a dumpster fire for Nvidia.

I beg the differ, the RTX3090 FE (MSRP $1499) is way worse if you consider the performance increase of only 10% at 4k and more than double price cost over the RTX3080 (MSRP $699).
RTX 2080Ti FE with MSRP of $1199 gave 30% more performance at only 50% higher cost over the RTX2080 FE (MSRP $799)

RTX3090 is the worst gaming card released the last 10-15 years.

The 8K push is simply because there are TV's out with it. It is absolutely idiotic for a computer monitor resolution at this time unless you have a 65"+ monitor and are within a foot of the screen (which would make using the screen space a pain in the neck if you ask me from having to constantly move your neck around to view it all).

8K might have some benefits on VR, but there is no hardware to my knowledge that would even use 2x4K (one per eye). The real issue for VR at any resolution, especially higher ones is one of frame-rate/refresh. I don't think even hdmi 2.1 has the bandwidth for 2x4K at 120Hz, and we certainly do not have a graphics card that is capable of that (even the new ones) at this time. I think we are still 5-6 years away from that kind of performance.
I would say that even 8k TVs are completely unrealistic from normal viewing distances (10-14') unless massive screen too impractical for typical home usage. 8k imo is the biggest marketing rip-off I've yet seen for real world usage. Its simply milking the 'moar is better' idea to lure in the clueless masses.

It doesn't even have Titan "optimizations" for certain professional applications according to LTT's video.

I'm curious, which individual card in the last say 20 years would be worse outside of a non-gaming card like the Titan V CEO? I'm trying to think of one, but even though the FX series and say the 2xxx series were disappointing, at least they were all positioned reasonably.
