I was poking around at evga the other day and came across a new nvidia driver for the 8800gts 512 card. It's marked 169.32 and after installing it I see that it has whql certification. On nvidia's site they only show 169.25 as the latest whql driver and 169.28 as the latest beta driver. How did evga get a hold of the latest whql driver when nvidia doesn't even show it?

nVidia's site is usually the last place new drivers show up.

Not sure why they do it like this, but for a long time now, they seem to prefer leaking betas all over the place to the point where it's impossible to know which driver to use, especially since the actual official drivers are so few & far between you have to use betas just to properly run newer games.

It's been a constant source of frustration for me whenever i've owned nVidia cards, but apparently they like it that way.

169.25 seems to be working fine for me (except for Crysis, which I've stopped playing due to frustratingly low framerates in Vista 64), but perfectly stable.

Unless a new driver delivers better performance, I don't see a reason for upgrading/updating.

The 169.32 might have the added support for 9600GS GPU.

EDIT: It is actually 9600GT, and it seems to require the 171.16 version of the driver.

Well, perhaps someone can explain what's new in 169.32 then...?

169.32 is for the 8800GS, if u goto nvdia website and select 8800GS it'll give you that driver.

Well it's also for the 8800gts 512 and it supposedly has increased performance in 2/3 way sli in crysis. My system is running fine with it and that is all that matters to me.

the 28 beta increased the SLI performance... the 32 added 8800GS support and got a WHQL certification...
WHQL is always a plus cause windows is a pain if it doesn't have it. (it has no value in of itself)

EDIT: interesting, the .32 driver wouldn't install on my GTS 512MB system... I says I don't have the supported hardware... I guess it only allows it to install on a GS system. oh well.
