Ok Im using the latest drivers for my Geforce 2, but Windows XP just restarted and it has a error with the driver nv4_disp.dll.
I am using the latest drivers from nvidia. I have heard of others with the same problem. Is there a fix? and if so where can I download it at? or what can I do?

Thanks this is pretty annoying...

uninstall your current drivers thru add/remove programs, reboot, and run windows update to get the 23.12 drivers.

John I just installed the drivers from Windows Update.

However I didn't uninstall my other drivers first. Should I go and uninstall them now and then run Windows Update again? Also if I do this should I reboot after uninstalling the drivers?

I updated my official Nvidia 23.11 drivers using Windows update for XP which then downloaded and installed 23.12 drivers over the old 23.11 drivers with no problem.

I had the Nvidia loop error once with the old 23.11 drivers.
The 23.12 drivers seem excellent so far for me in gaming etc and no Nvidia loop error yet 🙂.

If you still get the Nvidia loop error your only options are trying different drivers or go in the Bios and try slower memory settings and AGP 2x etc,it seems different things have worked for different people.

well I uninstalled the drivers and then rebooted. It install some WinXP generic drivers for my card and then I ran WinUpdate to get the 2312s.

So far no error. I hope this fixes the problem.

Thanks for the info Mem

this was the second time I had the reboot error. Is this just an issue with WinXP? or does happen on other Win OSs

I have a Geforce 2mx (similar to your Geforce2 GTS-V) graphic card and have used all the latest drivers released by either Microsoft or Nvidia. None of them cure the crashing problem. My advice is to use the original Winxp driver or the driver released by your graphic card's manufacturer. They seem to be the most stable of the bunch. Also, the motherboard or motherboard bio you are using seem to matter as well. I have a MSI K7T Pro motherboard which uses the KT133 chipset ( I believe your ASUS K7V also uses the KT133 chipset). I rolled back the bio to v2.4. Now, my system crashes much less frequently.

You just have to try different drivers and see what best for your system..

I have tried 23.12's, 27.20's and 23.11's .. all no good.

I am running 27.42's and no flaws.

I just did a search for nv4disp.dll on Google. Appearantly, many people are experiencing this infinite loop Winxp crash problem. Either Nvidia, or MS, or Via is not doing its job. I bet their engineers no about this problem but just haven't found a fix-all solution yet. That is why they are pretending that there is no problem.
