does anyone know when they'll be coming out?!
i wanna oc the heck outta my card and stock cooling just doesn't cut it

Agreed. Man, you are really lucky though that you have 520 core. I can't get mine to the 486 mark even, let alone 500 or 520. Most people on water aren't getting much higher than your card w/o a vold mod

really?....i bought that off a member of here (erector16 i believe)
thanks for the great card
although i'm using the stock cooler...i modded it after i read one of the post
just taking off the piece of metal that's covering the heatsink and place a 80mm fan over it (120mm doesn't work)
it works great!! but still doesn't cut it

got mine in today. here's my review on another thread:

fyi - got my NV Silencer 5 Rev. 3 today for the GTX. Was a little of a PITA to install (Asus and their proprietary fan connectors! ). Anyhow, it works great as seen below:

Temps before:
Idle: 46C
Load: 75C

Temps after:
Idle: 40C
Load: 56C !!!!

In terms of quietness, I honestly don't notice a difference. Case temps did seem to drop from 36C to now around 31C.

ALthough I still recommend it, the backside heatspreader plate seems to be barely be held on (the thermal tape isn't that sticky). I may have to get some heatsink fins for them instead.

Damn that sucker is huge!! Seriously, look at the Zalman 700... much smaller, and nearly silent! got one on my 6600GT, runs idle at 32C!! not sure what load usually is, but I think it is about 42C IIRC... and it is SOO quiet, and really cool looking.

Impressive differences in temps. From 78C to 56C is a HUGE difference. The only thing I don't like about this is the fact that they still use the same old lame passive memory heat shield on the back of the card. And also, I think the heat sink should be ALL copper and not just the base. Price difference would only be about 10 bucks if they did that.

so is the zalman better or the nv silencer....remcommendations please!!
i'm looking to max out my card
thanks

hehe, you're gonna trip over the new overclock:

before: 500 core /1350 mem

after: 520 core / 1400 mem (auto-detect)

I was pretty surprised too. Ran several games at this and no artifacts are screen tears.

I looked at the zalman / thermal right solutions before buying this. The NV silencer was better imho, because it exhausted air out, not around into the case. For an HTPC, it crucial to keep things kool in the tight confines.

I thought about getting the Zalman, but I think the NV is a lot better.
first of all, on a 7800GT there is no RAM on the back, so, same as my 6800GT, the nv5 will cool my GPU and memory all at once. Secondly, there is no cable mess, which I absolutely hate about the Zalman.. I don't want wires all over my case, the nv5 draws from the GPU fan header. AND even at whatever speed it wants to run at, I still never even heard mine. Plus, it vents the air out of the case.. Reasons to get the VF700? I can't think of any.

I had an NV5 for my 6800GT, and I just ordered two more for my KO's. I really like the NV5, but I've never tried the Zalman. I guess I just like the idea of exhausting the air out of the case. It really doesn't help if you just move hot air around.

That wasn't the plan, but the ACS cooler really isn't all the special... The cards look pretty and all, but I kinda think that the design actually holds the hot air in. They don't seem to have any room to breathe, and the cards are literally hot to the touch. I know Anandtech said they were cooler then most (they might not have tested them inside of a case), but mine are hot and the air around them is hot as well.

I got the KO's through the step-up program... Basically, I was an early adoptor of the GTX, so I paid way more for them than they go for now. That being the case, when the KO came out, my step-up cost was pretty much the cost of shipping and the time.

Bummer, I didn't even think about this...

...the NV5 Silencer won't fit, not because of the lack of space inbetween the cards, but because of the SATA connectors. Well, I'll be getting in 2 NV5 Rev. 3's probably on Friday that I won't be able to use... I imagine you'll be seeing 2 NIB NV5 Rev. 3's on FS/FT in a couple of days...

It will fit. There's a pic of 7800 GTX SLI with NV5S R3 on an Asus A8N-SLI Premium board somewhere.

I currently have a stock eVGA 7800GT.. When I use Coolbits 2 Detect Optimal Frequences I get around 490 Core, 1.14 memory which seems to be pretty good. I'm wondering if it would be worth while to invest in a nvsilencer or something.

Well, I guess I'll have to see when they get here. I really would like for these guys to fit. The case I just got (expensive Lian Li) appears to be notoriously bad for letting SLI setups breathe. Of course all the review sites were too busy sucking Lian Li off to bother mentioning this, and I had to find out after the fact that this is a pretty well known weakness of this case. I think Lian Li was a bit too focused on keeping the CPU cool, that they neglected the video cards. I'm skeptical about the fit though, if you look at the picture you can see that I'm using the SIL SATA RAID, not the NV SATA (which is further out). I can use the NV SATA, but I don't want to give up my SIL connectors either way. That being said, Asus' own 7800GTX TOP uses the NV5, and it wouldn't make much sense for them to build a card that didn't fit on their "Premium" SLI motherboard.
