NV Silencer 5 in an Aria?

Wanting to pick one up for my 6800NU, the fan housing looks like it sticks up over the PCB a good deal, and theres a very minimal amount of room btwn the card and the cd-rom drive cage. Anyone tried, and succeeded or failed?

I have one on order for my 6800 OC. The heatpipe on the 6800 sticks out above the pcb a little bit (cdrom pushes on it) so I hope it doesn't stick out too much. The BFG 6800's heatsink fans are quite loud. Even at 50%, they're about the loudest thing in the system.

I'm interested to find out how the cooler works out for you. I just bought the BFG 6800 OC, and it's LOUD!! If the cooler is a big improvement, I think I'm going to have to pick one up. Please post up your opinion when you get it.

I put an NV5 on my Chaintech 6800NU, and it works fine. Granted I have a stealth drive cage, so the clearance isn't an issue, but it does stick out about 0.5cm past the PCB, but this shouldn't be an issue, as the molex connector sticks out farther. Anyway, hope yours works out for you, best of luck!

I'm mostly concerned about height. The heatpipe on my BFG 6800 is too high. My cdrom rests right on the heatpipe. If the silencer is higher, that will cause a problem. I'm not worried (yet) about the length. Glad to know that yours worked for you, at least.

That's strange, do you have an Aria? What motherboard? I'm using a Foxconn 865M01 (P4) and the heatpipe does appear to be slightly higher than the cd-rom drive cage, but there's about an inch of space btwn it and the cd-rom drive itself (mine's not stealthed btw), so no clearance issues there. If it doesn't stick out off the PCB as much as the heatpipe I think it may fit under my drive cage, I guess I'll go ahead n pick one up and find out.

I finally got my silencer in (almost 2 weeks after ordering). It doesn't fit. My motherboard is a Biostar P4VMA-M.

The shroud around the fan sticks up a few mm too high and when I put the cdrom tray all the way down, it pushes the silencer down too far. When it's all the way down, I start getting a lot of video corruption before I even boot to windows and there is a definite pushing of the cdrom on the silencer. It is the cdrom itself and not the drive cage that is sitting on the silencer, too.

UPDATE: I purchased the NV Silencer 5 for my Biostar iDEQ 200N, and it fits! There's not much clearance, but it works. MUCH quieter than the stock fan. It's no louder than the relatively quiet System fans on the iDEQ.

I'd highly recommend the Silencer 5!
