Numbers confirm what we already knew: Fiat 500 is pos

Problem about the car is that it is for a very specific, niche market. I also very much agree with this statement:

I assume the sales problems are substantially related to the fact the car looks absurd, isn't actually that cheap, and I guarantee you the majority of Americans have no idea Fiat is selling cars in the US.

Sales estimates about 1/3rd of where they were supposed to be. Safety rating also 3.

I think the car looks great, the abarth edition, even better. I just think the money they want for them is too much. I also think you are right in americans not knowing fiat is selling cars here.

I personally don't think it has anything to do with the looks.... maybe the fact they have J-Lo on their ads is turning off every straight male as potential buyers. This could hurt sales figures by 1/2

I think it's an absurdly expensive car for what you get. It also makes my eyes hurt. I'm glad to see it fail.

I don't think they look any worse than any of the other hatches tbh, then again I'm not big on hatches to begin with.

And who knew, poor sales in a bad economy.

drove buy a dedicated dealer down here there the other day, insane amount of Fiats, no idea how they plan to sell them all

How so?...

I don't get why these aren't selling well in the US of A, they are absurdly popular here.

I feel bad for you guys...compared to other similarly priced cars it offers nothing good. Remember though that smallness is never an asset here as we have plenty of room to park etc.

For what you get, it's overpriced here.

It's only like $14k, (assuming it's the same price as here) That's a good price for a small, good to drive, good looking (IMO), funky retro car.

Not if you live in New York city etc... It's meant for town driving....

Majority of americans don't live in that city and many who do don't even own a car. Most people here have no parking issues or streets first conceived in the middle ages so honestly there is just plenty of room. Two car garages, wide streets, 6000 lb SUVs, a fiat looks (and is) like a coffin compared to them.
