Number of monitors vs marital status?

Marital status vs number of monitors

  • I am married, I have more than one monitor

  • I am married, I have just one monitor

  • I am single, I have more than one monitor

  • I am single, I have just one monitor

  • I am blind, you insensitive prick

I am working on a hypothesis here. For multiple monitors to count they have to be functioning and driven by a single computer. Thank you for your time.

I had one monitor while I was married. After I got divorced my wife's monitor became my second monitor.

:sneaky:

I was thinking only one (for each PC - we have a bunch of them), except at work where I have two and he has more than I understand. But if you count TVs, then I do, and I guess he does as well, since we share them. One of them is big. One is even bigger.

I'm more surprised by the large number of married posters. The question should be if you had multiple monitors before getting married. I believe that is the true cut off for obtaining toys.

so regardless of marital status, there are more people with multiple monitors. yeah that's pretty skewed.

Married, I've got a 42" mounted on the wall for videos, 32" for my primary and a 20" for my secondary. All connected to my desktop. Wife has my old Dell 2405FPW.

Yea, but the status of monitors and prices have changed drastically since going to LCD so I'm not sure how that would really represent anything.

I had 1 CRT monitor for years because I only had 1 computer (and they only had single outputs). Now I have 3 running at a time (2 on 1, 1 on another pc). Hell..actually I have 3 additional monitors running on my pincab (if you can count that).

All of both scenarios occurred while married.

Guess I don't really get what the poll is trying to suggest. To me married may typically mean more money to spend on electronics (such as monitors). On the other hand it could also mean that your wife nags you into not taking up tons of space with computer equipment....like someone else said, something tells me for this site the numbers would be skewed.

i had single monitor before and after i got married. i used to play my console games on a 23" monitor because my 50" dlp lagged like shit. when we moved to a house and i got a new tv that didnt lage, i put that 23" as a 2nd monitor for my pc. so now i have dual on my home pc. at work iv'e been rocking dual monitors since my first job out of school 9 years ago.

We have two connected to each PC we have (other than laptops). One large one (65", 55" and 42") and one smaller one each (all 23") for weather, notifications, etc.

I'm single, have three monitors, but only one connected.

That's my boat. I can't get 3 to work in Linux properly so I gave up. The other two are VGA only so I will eventually upgrade them to monitors that have a HDMI port and use two Raspberry PIs to drive them and link them using Synergy. One nice thing with Synergy is while I lose the ability to drag a window between monitors, it will allow me to switch to Windows on the main screen while keeping Linux on the others. So when I want to game I don't have to close everything, only the stuff that's on the main screen.

Oh and I'm single... and happy. I highly doubt if I was married I'd be allowed to have a server room in the basement AND my office upstairs. 😛

4 monitors at work. NOC.
