You just had a merger (where no doubt some people were let go), you were up against someone in HR and you're questioning why she got praised? It's called kissing the ass of the hand that feeds you.

When it comes to business, I'm all business. If anything, I probably presented it in too factual a manner. Like Alchemize said, I probably overloaded them with technical info.

I'm glad I don't have to give presentations. They would probably turn out the same way: too much effort for too little reward.

I take she was under the desk longer than you were at the desk? You got to prioritize man...

Yep, that's a major no-no in the business world. Basically, consider that you'll be presenting to a group of second graders. Oh, and then keep in mind that half of them probably didn't actually complete first grade, they were passed just because.

I thought people's presentations in high school were bad, but they've only gotten worse in college. I've actually asked to do my own projects in some classes because of how poor people are at them (and I'd end up doing all the work anyway).

I'm glad my presentations consist of telling my boss to go look at the whiteboard and tell me what he thinks :p

just think, if you get canned (of which I hope you don't), you definitely could have a second career as a writer. maybe a book of your short stories?

That's what happened... she was under the desk while he gave his presentation.

i have to train groups of operators on occasion. the first time i went all out, color printed manuals detailing each screen and mouose click, overhead presentation, white board and everything. after that much prep, i get about 3 pages into it and look back at the operators, one of 8 are actually looking at me, the others are all slumped over, hands on face and 2 were nodding off. i realized it was easier to sit them in front of the system, make them do the tasks and ask questions as they did it. they really didnt care about the level of detail that i thought mattered, they just wanted the free 8 hour day and who to call if it broke.
