Nuclear Underground

A graphic in the article (ah luv pick-chures,...) points out that the US has 5,000 warheads.

China,... 400.

Now, this is as of 2002. In a little under a decade, I doubt that the even doubled that amount.

It is not the number; but the way that they are hiding the numbers so as to not be accounted for.

Oh cool an article about American hackers and intelligence trying to undermine the Chinese government. These articles are usually so different when told the other way around, right? lols.

I don't see in the article it mentions hackers, maybe I missed it? Looks like the used a lot of resources openly available on the Internet. They did obtain a manual from the Chinese military.

How many times do we need to destroy the world?

With the US infrastructure the way it is, just a couple of well placed nukes would bring the US to its knees. The rest would be overkill.

I think it was Einstein that said if World War III was fought with nuclear weapons, World War IV would be fought with sticks and stones.

really we do not even need to have surface bursts of nuclear weapons. Just do atmospheric burst for EMP pulse to send most of the Western nations back to the pre-industrial age.

Society would immediately be f'ed if an EMP hit. Pen and paper, what's that?

one generally doesn't obtain restricted documents from other nations through ethical means. this means someone supplied it to them either through good ol' fashioned espionage or the digital variety. It was mostly me just making a joke, but imo it does hold weight.

Which doesn't make sense. The point of a nuclear arsenal is to be a deterrent. If your enemy knows you have the ability to annihilate his country, he is less likely to attack.

So instead of the nuke drills of the cold war current students should be taught on how to use abacus and a slide rule if a EMP hits?

And such is the issue.

The situation does not compute to the western mind.

Similar to what Iraq tried to do.

As to a couple of other posters, I am more comfortable with the Chinese in terms of self destruction more than the Persian/Arab mindset.
