nTune won't OC the GPU?

Why is the "GPU" option disabled and not selected under nTune? It seems like nTune can't tweak GPU clock settings automatically. Could it be disabled because I'm running Windows Vista 64-bit?

My system has an Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus board (NVIDIA chipset) and an EVGA 9800GTX GPU.

nTune is junk, uninstall it right away. Use Rivatuner. If you don't want to do that, perhaps someone who knows more than I do could come along and help you.

I would recommend EVGA's new Precision Tuner for the 9800GTX.

second to what ocguy said. I use Evgas precision tuner and it works like a charm on my 9800gtx. Its simple to use and gives you many options: In game monitoring, g15 lcd status.

But...but...doesn't nTune tweak more than just the GPU? It seems like it would be great to use an NVIDIA utility to overclock the CPU, memory, and GPU on my system with an NVIDIA chipset and GPU. I guess I should let nTune tweak everything else, and then the EVGA utility for the GPU.

I have a G15 keyboard, but I don't want to install bloatware to make the LCD work. Does the utility work with the keyboard's LCD when Logitech software is installed? If so...that's awesome!

Oh god no.
Using nTune to overclock your pc is worse than using it to overclock your GPU.
You are WAY WAY better off overclocking your pc using the bios and Rivatuner or EVGA's program for the GPU.

yea, overclock the PC via the bios. Overclock video card with rivatuner... nTune had potential, but nvidia seems to have abandoned it half finished.

check the naming conventions.. ntune was v5. System tools is V6...
Seems like they just renamed it and released a new and updated version...

I was really looking for something that would perform an automatic overclock in a relatively quick and safe way. I don't even know what's reasonable to expect, so I didn't want to go through the effort of overclocking manually.

...at least, not at first.

The EVGA utility just seems to let me set speeds, but has no option to automatically overclock by stepping/testing. I could already set speeds with nTune...so what good is this, exactly?

If I have to do this manually, where should I expect a 9800GTX to top out?

nTune will work quick, easy, and automatically to crash your system and cause you to have to re-install...

Rightmark CPU utility can help with that. You still set the OC in your BIOS, including voltage. In windows, you can bring up the the utility and choose from Power saving (lowest multi only), Performance on demand (multi varies depending on CPU usage) and Max. performance (highest multi available). You can also customize which multi's will be used. For example, I used this on my last X2 4200+. Perf. on demand would go between 4x and 10x. Max was 11x. That allowed me to easily control the OC in the OS. You can also determine the voltage for each multi. Check it out!

I can also vouch that nTune just sucks. I bought into that crap when I bought my last mobo. What a POS!!!
