ntune fried my venice 3500+

I just spent the whole day swapping out parts trying to figure out what was going on with my computer- I ran ntune on it for 1/2 hr last night then on reboot it beeped rapidly. I have now relaced everything in the rig except the CPU. I'm off to Fry's to get another one. 🙁

I don't know the hows and whys, but ntune fried my cpu or my cpu was defective and needed ntune to throw it off the cliff, even though it ran fine for 4 weeks.

Bleh.

Edit: Bought the CPU at monarch 7 weeks ago, what recourse do I have and who's it with, AMD or monarch? Monarch has a 60 day warranty.

Is it a retail chip?

Were you Overclocking?

It was purchased at monarch as a combo so I have no idea, but I would suspect it's oem. I was not overclocking at all, I just began venturing into it with ntune.

Well this keeps getting more entertaining, I just replaced the CPU. Still beeps.

I've replaced the CPU, video card, motherboard, memory, pulled the other PCI cards. Still beeps.

Next up: swap the $150 sparkle 600w power supply out. That's all it can be, right?

I doubt that badass PS is the problem. I would say its time to pull the mobo, put it on cardboard and hookup just the basics CPU,GPU,Ram and see if you can get it to boot.

Also list your full system specs so the brain trust here at Anandtech can help you out.🙂

*edit*
nTune is a POS don't use it, now I tell you 😱

Thanks Daddy, I got it. Post.

I cannot believe what the problem was, I am so completely f'ing mad. The first mobo was an asus a8n-sli deluxe. It would beep fast, about 7-8 beeps without posting. Wtf? So I went on this magical journey you see above you to no avail. I hooked up the sound so it would "voice diagnose" the problem, but it didn't say anything. 🙁

The new mobo is an a8n-sli premium. Swapped cpus, etc, nothing. Finally I plugged in the sound and this one had something to say:

"Cpu fan failed."

You see my rig is watercooled, and has no cpu fan. While the deluxe apparently doesn't have this warning the premium does. So I plugged in a fan, and voila, post. I need to disable CPU fan monitoring in bios to get past this but what a pita day this was. 🙁

For sale, one perfectly good asus a8n-sli deluxe. Low hours. Apparently the bios reset istelf after running ntune? Good times.😀

The deluxe also has the voice post reporter, you probably didn't have the volume up on the speakers. I've heard that female asian voice before🙁 And the CPU fan warning disable is pretty easy to find I think its on the last page with the boot settings

Glad you figured it out😀 sounds like youv'e almost got enough componets for a second rig

Oh, I'll tell you now AI booster is as much a POS as nTune don't use it either. Clockgen NF4 is the only windows overclocking tool I use, and I only use it to up the HTT. I make all voltage and multi changes in bios.

Great, I'll check clockgen out, thanks. As God as my witness the voice reporter said nothing on the deluxe- maybe that motherboard was fried and then I encountered the secondary issue with the premium not having a fan plugged in. The beep sequence was somewhat different. I swapped the deluxe for a new deluxe but didn't install it, just leaped to the premium, which I am happily typing on now. 🙂

What an odd experience!

Glad to see resolution! Had the same stinking thing happen a time or two since switching to water, its the small things that slip by us.
