I'm trying to set up windows xp on an old system, and BAM! i get these errors
Couldn't open drive multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)
NTLDR: Couldn't open drive multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)
i've tried TONS of things.. going into the repair console, formatting under NTFS and FAT32, trying to mess with the bootcfg in repair console and also fixmbr and fixboot commands. Nothing is WORKING! ARGGHH.. its so frustrating.. i need to destroy something hehe, anyways, anybody got a solution to this annoying problem?

1 ghz amd, 40 gb fireball HDD, compaq 5000 series persario mobo, geforce 3 ti 200, 384 mb ram.. that's about it

i just put another 10 HDD in and it still gives me the same error, mobo or ram causing this problem?

Tough one nboy22.
I'm not going to be much help unfortunately.
Have a linux CD handy? If a minimum setup loaded and booted without issue, I'd suspect something wrong with your XP CD.
Don't know how much help this would be, and it's a lot of reading, but you might take a look at:

Good Luck!

well, it can't be the cd, cause i've tried at least 3 different cds, one WinXP, one WinXP OEM, and one Windows 2000, non of them work, so it pretty much rules out the bad cd :/
