NTLDR missing any way to correct this?

Argo

Recently I formatted drive D and ever since then I'm not able to boot. I get NTLDR missing message during the startup. I have no idea why NTLDR was on D: drive, since OS (Windows 2k Workstation) is installed on drive C:.

Any way to correct this without reinstalling the OS?

Two partitions on the same HD. I've done this before, so I know for sure it shouldn't be a problem. To the best of my knowledge, no system files were located on drive D.

Argo, did you get the problem fixed?

I am tryihg to correct the same problem...without success so far.

Thanks.

In my case the problem was actually caused by formatting the boot drive. For some reason drive D: was boot drive, even though OS was installed on C:. I had no choice but to reformat 🙁

This probably isn't the problem, but I thought I would tell you anyway. When I had 2k, once when I tried to start the comp with a non-boot floppy in the drive, it said something is missing.

I have tried the "fixboot" as suggested by that link but it didn't help.

I have also copied the ntldr file and ntdetect.com file from the WinXP disk to my hard drive and that didn't do anything either.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....and the floppy disk drive is empty.

Thanks Vicken but that link mentioned, "This behavior occurs only if Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Me is installed on a large-capacity drive that uses the FAT32 file system."

I run Win XP Pro on a 30GB NTFS file system.
