Running W2K Pro. I want to run Western Digital's Lifeguard utility to test my hard drive. I downloaded the program to a floppy, but when I rebooted off that floppy, I received the good ol' NTLDR is missing error. Going back to the WD site, I saw the program is for W98/ME. There must be a way to make it work in W2K. Anyone? There's a sip of thirty year old scotch in it for you.....

What's in the floppy? Just the progrma you've downloaded? Or did you boot with a win9x bootdisk? I don't know the software downloaded is compatible in DOS but if it is then just boot with a win9x bootdisk and switch the floppy to the one containing the software, and start the program. If it's not compatible to run in DOS & WD doesn't have a similar software for win2k, I think you're out of luck.

You likely formatted the floppy using w2k - that's why it's looking for ntldr. Use a floppy formatted with DOS or win9x.
