NTLDR is missing

I tried installing winxp into my new comp I just build but i got the error ntldr is missing when booting from the cd. The cd is a CDR backup. HOw do I fix the problem

that means the cd isnt bootable. do you have another computer? if so, pop in the cd, and open it. inside the cd, there is a program called create boot disk. you will need 4 fresh floppies. then try booting from those. at a certain point, it will ask you to put the cd in, and you can install.

damm i dont have a floppy drive. i though all winxp cds are bootable. what the point of making non-bootable cd?
man this sucks

Is this a new blank hard drive drive or was there a partition on it previously?

If there's an existing non-bootable partition on the drive, some mobos will NOT boot from the CD automatically (the NTLDR error may be concerning the HDD not the CD).

Go into BIOS and make sure the boot order specifies the CD-Rom BEFORE the hard drive.

one time, my hard drive got corrupted, and my windows cd wouldnt worked, it only worked after i reformatted. definately make sure the boot order is cd first.

I'm actually curious about this myself since I've been playing around with making an unattended windows copy with apps using nlite. The thing is nlite makes an iso image file, which isn't what I want, so instead, I copy the contents, including silently installed apps, onto a dvd in a multisession using nero. The thing is I get the same error in using this method vs. having nlite make an iso for me. Is there a way to go about keeping a session open, since I don't want to be able to add more apps along the way if I need to change things on this dvd? Thanks.
