Hello everyone. I have an Asus P5B-E with an e6300 and a 1gb stick of Corsair XMS DDR2 800

I have the e6300 overclocked to 2.8 Ghz. I also have an IDE Hard drive and Cdrom on the SAME ide cable because my mobo only has one ide slot.

Now i was playing WoW today and the game crashed. I tried to re-enter the game and all my characters were missing somehow. So i rebooted the computer and got the "NTLDR is missing" error and can't boot back into Windows.

So any ideas on the corruptions on my hard drive? I'm pretty sure i don't have the IDE set to run at 33% of the CPU. I have heard not doing this can overclock the IDE as well and cause problems. What else can i check? Also, how can i fix this?

Often times it is caused by the ram being clocked to far and corrupting the files, or like you mentioned the pci lock not being there or working properly...

This is an evil error :(

I tried Fixboot, FixMBR, repairing a Windows installation, a new one - I can't remember how I got rid of it, but it wasn't quick :(

First try to back off of your oc, load fail safe and see if that does the trick
I used to get that error when I was ocing my opty alot. after I reloaded the fail safe all was good again. Not 100% but a fairly quick and probable solution
